Acer Aspire One AOD250 Dual Boot Android And Windows XP Netbook Is Official
As reported yesterday the new dual boot Acer Aspire One D250 is already available for pre-order on Amazon. Just now Acer made the dual boot Acer Aspire One AOD250 netbook official.
The 10.1-inch Aspire One AOD250 with Android and Windows XP lets you switch between Android and Windows XP Home operating systems with just a click of a mouse.
I do not quite understand why Acer is launching a new netbook with Windows XP and not Windows 7. Only reason I can see here that the netbook is aimed at Android fans and the Windows OS is secondary.

HDD Compared To SSD On Acer Aspire One D250 Netbook
If you are still not convinced that an SSD upgrade is really beneficial in terms of overall performance like I am already, here is another comparison. I have upgraded an old but still sexy Thinkpad X40 with an SSD and the result is awesome. Also just recently I replaced the boot HDD on my Windows XP Desktop with an SSD and the resulting performance gains are dramatic.
iGadgetLive compared the overall performance of an Acer Aspire One D250 netbook between HDD and SSD.
Quote: "My Acer Aspire One D250 came with a standard mechanical hard drive, and recently I acquired another SSD drive so I figured why not swap the HDD out for the SSD as that seems the popular way to go these days. Now I knew the read and write speeds of the SSD would be much faster than the lowly 5400RPM hard drive, but I was curious as to how much of an actual affect it had on the system as a whole though. I wanted to know just how much an SSD affects everything in the system and not just the transfer rates or read/writes.

Acer Aspire One D250 Netbook Review
Today I am looking at one of the configurations of the Acer Aspire One D250. The Aspire One netbook family is the most popular line of netbooks available.
The sleek little machines offer a good balance of performance for cost. The only real downside is that the battery life on the unit I tested isn’t that great. Read more

Acer Aspire One A150 8.9 inch Netbook compared with ASUS Eee PC 900HA
Netbooks with 8.9 inch have been the standard last year and now we just see 10 inch netbooks taking over. I still like the small and compact 8.9 inch size as the screen has the same resolution as most 10 inch screens available and the performance is also similar. The small Aspire One is still very popular with currently ranking on #3 in the Amazon netbook sales chart. The keyboard is of course rather small, but that is the price for ultra-portability.
Below we take a closer look at the Acer Aspire One A150 and compare it to Asus' 8.9 inch Netbook - the ASUS Eee PC 900HA.

Acer has the best selling netbook on the market with its Aspire One. The company has announced a new version of the netbook called the Acer Aspire One 10 that has a larger 10-inch screen. The first real problem for the netbook was the sort of problem buyers will like as the first set of netbooks shipped has a higher capacity battery.
The first group of Aspire One Tens has a 6-cell battery with 5800mAh of power. The battery that was supposed to go in the netbook offers 6-cells but only has 4400mAh of power. Lenovo Ideapad S10, Asus 904HA, Acer Aspire One and Smoothbook Slice compared
Techspot has a roundup of four netbooks comparing Lenovo Ideapad S10, Asus Eee 904HA, Acer Aspire One and Smoothbook Slice.
Quote from the netbook review: "It can't be argued that 2008 was the year of the netbook. Asus is credited with officially bringing the first netbook to market last year with their Eee PC, but as many first adopters will tell you, companies rarely "get it right" on their first at bat and the Eee PC was no different.
A big second wave of netbooks arrived in mid-2008 and as expected, improvements were made all around. These netbooks offered larger screens capable of higher resolutions, better storage mediums (either SSD or traditional hard drives), and the option to have Windows XP pre-installed.

Windows CE to run on Acer Aspire One and Lenovo S9 Netbooks
Currently Netbooks run Windows XP and Linux. The low-end models sure run better with Linux because Windows XP needs more resources. For Windows fans Windows CE would be the solution to run on the cheapest netbooks.

Acer Aspire One is I4U Top 100 Gift Tip #28
There are lots of attractive netbooks on the market this fall and it is difficult to choose the right one. Acer has with the Aspire One an attractive netbook that stands out a bit. It is currently a bestseller in at Amazon and Walmart.
The reasons for the success are possibly the pleasant design, attractive pricing and decent hardware configuration. With the 8.9 inch screen the Acer Aspire One is featuring what I think is the sweet spot screen size for netbooks. Smaller screens are not really good to work with and larger ones get you too close to normal notebook sizes.
