Lufthansa Airlines recently ran a poll on their website asking what passengers would think of being able to get lie flat beds rather than seats on some of their flights. A company spokeswoman says feedback on the idea has been good so far.

Rather than getting seats, passengers would get bunk beds stacked floor to ceiling in a triple deck configuration in a herring bone pattern around the outside of the plane. Read more

Airbus A380 On-board Video Report from Test Flight Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review As reported the A380 visited for the first time the United States last week. PupularMechanics had a reporter on-board during the test flight inside the US.

They published a nicely done video report from the experience flying with largest passenger plane on the planet. The particular A380 is configured for 520 passengers. The video shows how rather comfortable the A380 is and of course the sizeable on-board bar. There is also a visit to the cockpit and some chit-chat with the test pilot. Airbus A380 Takes Off Today!

Airbus A380 Takes Off Today! Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

The biggest passenger is set to take off for the first time today in Toulouse-Blagnac international airport in France.

The photo of the first Airbus A380 crew reminds me very strongly on the movie Armageddon with Bruce Willis. The A380 crew does not have to save the world but the face of Europe.

The first A380 flight is supposed to take place today at 4:30 EDT (10:30 local time) and is broadcasted live on TV. The 555 to 800 seat double-deck aircraft has had several delays, I am surprised that they would broadcast the first live flight on TV. Hope it goes well.

Yahoo has a press-release with Satellite Channel information for the US. Airbus has a setup a special site for the first flight.

Update:
The Airbus A380 actually flies! Video of take-off on the Airbus site.
