Alright, deal-hunters, if you're in the mood to start your Christmas shopping a little early, Amazon.com is throwing a 24-hour sale today. The first two deals of the morning have already sold out, but if you visit here you can get ready to pounce when the next deal opens up at 10:00 AM, PST. Amazon won't say just what the next deal is, but they do claim it's a “perfect fit for your home cinema”.

Black Friday 2009 seems to think the deal could be an extra-low price on an HDTV. We do know that the deal after that, which comes online at 12:00 PM PST, is a $100 Amazon Promotional Code with the purchase of an Xbox 360 Arcade. They offered the same deal earlier this morning, and all the available codes were nabbed within minutes. This is the same Xbox 360 Arcade deal Walmart offers in stores today

LG 55LH40 55-inch 120Hz LCD HDTV Has Bargain Price On Amazon

If you look closely you can already find extremely good deals on Amazon.com today, before the whole Black Friday deal bonanza even begins.
I stumbled over the LG 55LH40 55-inch 120Hz LCD HDTV in the Electronics Movers and Shakers list on Amazon. It has improved its sales rank by over 3,000%. At first I though the $1,472 price tag (list: $2,199.95) is the reason for this rise, but it could be a much lower price actually.
Amazon has a See Price In Cart offer on the LG 55LH40 of only $1,198.94. I could not find this big LCD 120Hz LCD HDTV at even close to that price anywhere else (Compare Prices).

Black Friday Walmart Versus Amazon Online Price War Coming?

In Mid-October out of nowhere a little price war was started up by Walmart against Amazon to make a point that Walmart has also the best prices online.
Walmart offered hot-pre-order book titles for $10 and soon Amazon counter attacked and the prices fell to $9 for Ford County, Under the Dome or I Alex Cross.
Amazon then decided to stop fighting and left prices at $9. Walmart under priced Amazon by 1c and later had to cut another cent as Target got into the game and matched Walmart's $8.99 pricing.

My empirical analyses showed that more customers still bought the books on Amazon when given the choice side by side with Walmart even if Walmart's price is a bit lower. This could also be the reason that Amazon did not drop the prices further on the pre-order books. They might even have sold more because of the publicity around the little price war.
In my opinion Walmart needs to under cut Amazon's pricing by an amount that breaks the habit of Amazon addicts - and most people including me suffer from the Amazon addiction. It just "feels" good and easy to buy on Amazon - click and done. Read more

With Amazon PayPhrase, online shoppers simply choose their own customized phrase — such as "Knick Knack," "Home Sweet Home," or "I Love I4U News" — and then enter that phrase along with a PIN to quickly preview their order and complete their purchase.

PayPhrase allows Amazon.com customers to checkout across the web with their preferred payment and shipping methods stored at Amazon.com, but without having to share sensitive payment information with multiple websites. All websites accepting Checkout by Amazon, including DKNY, Jockey, Patagonia, Buy.com, J&R Electronics, and Car Toys, will be offering PayPhrase as a checkout option.

Amazon is lowering the price of the new U.S. & International Wireless Kindle to $259 (was $279). Amazon says because of the strong demand they are consolidating 6" Kindle line-up. Customers who already purchased an U.S. & International Wireless Kindle get a $20 refund.
This move makes a lot of sense and is a nice treat for the early adopters of Kindle abroad. I published yesterday a review of the International Kindle using it in Germany.

International Amazon Kindle Reviewed While Using It In Deutschland

I used to live in the U.S. for several years. Back then I also started this site you are reading right now - I4U News. Since a couple years I live in Germany again, but continue along with my U.S. based colleagues to cover hot gadgets and technology news for the mostly American technology fans. Some gadgets available in the United States I miss out on living here in Germany are for instance the TiVo (I miss it so much!) and also the Amazon Kindle.
When Amazon announced the Amazon Kindle U.S. & International I ordered it right away and I got it handed to me by my friendly UPS guy today.
I was excited to open the small box and start using the Kindle eBook reader to see how the future of reading feels.
