Steamboy, New Anime from the Director of Akira

Steamboy, New Anime from the Director of Akira Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Steamboy a retro-scifi Anime movie is hitting theatres in the US on March 18th. The movie is directed by Katsuhiro Otomo, the director of cult Anime Akira from the 80s, making Steamboy and automatic must-see movie. The US version also features big name voices like Patrick Stewart and Alfred Molina.

From the Sony Synopsis:
" A retro science-fiction epic set in Victorian England, Steamboy features an inventor prodigy named Ray Steam who receives a mysterious metal ball containing a new form of energy capable of powering an entire nation. This young boy must use it to fight evil, redeem his family, and save London from destruction. The lush Victorian interiors and the elegance of the era's mechanical design allows Otomo to create dazzling visual backgrounds and machines for this film. With more than 180,000 drawing and 400 CG cuts, Steamboy is sure to be one of the most elaborate animated features of 2004. "

Anime Akira Motorcycle for Real Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review At the Tokyo Motorcycle show Neo Fukuoka showed a replica of the Anime Akira Motorcycle.

The japanese manufacturer optain an official license for the Akira creator to build the tricked-out futuristic motorcycle. The bike looks amazing, it has a dual steering system, DVD based navigation system, but most important it looks like the bike in the anime movie. How much it will cost and when it will be available is not known.

Japanese Bandai Visual announces a Portable DVD Player in bright red themed after the anime character Char Aznable from the Mobile Suit Gundam Anime Series.

The casing of the portable DVD player (BCHW-0001) is red and has wording from the Anime Series on it. The Player comes with bag and other accessories. The specifications are average and not especially interesting. Full Story and more photos on japanese site Watch Impress.
