Asus Eee PC 900 now on Sale with $100 Rebate

As reported earlier the new Intel Atom based Asus Eee PC 901 is on sale in the United States. The Asus Eee 901 sells for $599.99. In order to still be able to make the Asus Eee PC 900 attractive, Asus is offering an $100 rebate bringing the price down to $449.99.

The Asus Eee PC 900 features 8.9 inch Display, 900 MHz Intel Mobile CPU, 1 GB RAM, and camera.
The Linux version has a 20GB SSD and the Windows XP model has a 12GB SSD storage. Read more

Asus Eee PC 900 Review

Hothardware published a review of the new, but already soon to be outdated Asus Eee PC 900. Asus already stopped delivery of the Asus Eee PC to retailers, as the company will introduce the new Intel Atom based Asus Eee PC 901 next week at the Computex 2008.

Asus Eee PC 900 pre-order on Amazon.com started

Yesterday we reported that some online stores including 3rd party vendors on Amazon.com started offering the new Asus Eee PC 900. Now Amazon.com itself started to take pre-orders for both new Asus Eee 900 notebooks for $549.99 each.

Amazon.com does not state a shipping date yet for the Asus Eee 900. It is expected that the Asus 900 will ship tomorrow May 12th. Because Amazon ships them its free with Super Saver Shipping. Read more

On Thursday we reported that NewEgg listed the Asus Eee PC 900 for sale, but they removed the product pages again after a couple of hours. Now other retailers have started offering the new Asus Eee PC.

Buy.com (via TheGadgetSite) for $549.99. If you use Google Checkout you get $10 off. Buy.com states that the Asus Eee PC 900 ships in 1-2 days. Read more

Asus Eee PC 900 on Sale on NewEgg [Update]

Update 05/10/08:
Asus Eee PC 900 on Buy.com and other stores, NewEgg still did not list the 900 again.

Update:
NewEgg delisted the Asus Eee 900 PC product pages again. Either Asus pulled them back or they published the pages by mistake. In any case the Asus Eee 900 is supposed to be in stores on the 12th.

NewEgg started taking orders on the new Asus Eee 900 PCs and the new Eee PCs are ready to ship.

ASUS Eee PC 900 12G XP and the ASUS Eee PC 900 20G each sell for $549.99.
If you prefer Windows XP you get 8GB less of flash memory. Besides that difference both Asus Eee PC 900 are the same. Read more

Asus Eee PC 900 screen hacked into Eee PC 701

The new Asus Eee PC 900 with the larger 8.9 inch screen is expected in stores some time next week. Jkkmobile could not wait and managed to integrate a 8.9 inch screen in a currently available Asus Eee PC 701.
Last year Jkkmobile already integrated a touch screen into the Asus Eee, which I think is actually a very useful hack. I always find myself wanting to touch the screen on my Asus Eee to push buttons. Read more

Asus Eee PC 900 available on eBay

Asus officially announced the Asus Eee PC 900 with the 8.9 inch screen mid-April. The Asus Eee PC 900 is supposed to ship on May 12th in the United States. If you cannot wait that long, the Asus Eee 900 is readily available on eBay.

Mostly Asian eBay merchants based in Hong Kong or Taiwan ship the new Asus 900 world-wide. The price is between $600 and $700. The MSRP for the Asus Eee PC is set at $549. Read more

Asus Eee PC 900 dissected

While we are all still waiting to finally get our hands on the new Asus Eee PC 900, there is already someone who destroyed one to show us what is inside.

Bit-Tech took the new Eee 900 apart, but did not find much new. Only that the mobile PCI-Express socket is now used by a 16GB SSD module expanding the drive space. We know already that the Eee 900 is still no Intel Atom based notebook. I assume that future generations will look quite different inside. Read more

Asus Eee PC 900 to ship in Taiwan in 2nd half of April

Digitimes reports that the 2nd generation Asus Eee PC (Asus Eee PC 900) will be available in Taiwan in the 2nd half of this month according to sources.

Timing is now everything for Asus to maintain its leadership in the low-cost ultra mobile notebook segment. HP announced the HP 2133 Mini today. It is supposed to ship also still in April for $499. Read more
