Japanese Market UMPCs at Best Buy

Topic:

Japanese Market UMPCs at Best Buy Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Best Buy is offering under their Escape online shop a couple of UMPCs and notebooks which are Japanese market only. They offer these through a partnership with the pioneering Japanese notebook exporter Dynamism.

Dynamism is in the business since 1997, and we worked with them in the past on a couple of product reviews. They are a great company to work with. Looking at the current limited offering in the Best Buy Escape shop, you also can just go directly to Dynamism and order there. Pricing is the same. The partnership is good marketing for Dynamism and should help them spread the word.

Dynamism says that there will be more products in the Escape shop in the near future.

Topic:

LG Super Multi Blue Player BH100 already listed on Best Buy, but... Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review
The best gadget at CES 2007 (we think so, and CNET awarded the BH100 Best in Show), the LG BH100 might be in jeopardy.

First the good news: Electronics retailer Best Buy already listed the LG BH100 Super Multi Blue Player BH100. You cannot pre-order it yet though, but still this is a good sign.

Now for the bad news: BetaNews (via Gizmodo) reports that the DVD Forum might not certify the player as HD DVD player due to the lack of HDi/iHD support.

LG said the BH100 supports BD-J, the Blu-ray interactive menu solution and not the HDi system used for interactive menues on HD DVD disc. If LG does not get certification from the HD DVD backers, they cannot call it a HD DVD player. Read more

3rd Shipment of Xbox 360 available at Best Buy this Week

Topic:

3rd Shipment of Xbox 360 available at Best Buy this Week Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Best Buy is supposed to get Xbox 360 shipments this week. Some stores already might have got them by now.

Best Buy wants to avoid lines this time around. In an internal memo (which conveniently appeared on a Teamxbox forum) details how the Xbox 360 are supposed to be sold to avoid lines.
The Xbox 360 consoles will not be placed at the sales floor. No signs will be announcing that the Xbox 360 is in stock. You are supposed to be greeted at the door with the question: "What brings you in today?" Right answer is Xbox 360. Then they will tell you that the have inventory.
So good luck. I guess this means you have to go twice a day to your local Best Buy store to check if you get greeted.

Update:
I4U Reader Michael K. emailed us that he has been greeted at the Best Buy at Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh, NC today and he answered correctly. He was given a golden ticket (Xbox 360 Voucher). He says that this Best Buy got more Xbox 360 Premiums in stock today than at the '2nd launch'. Read more

The '2nd Launch' of The Xbox 360 in the US is Tomorrow at Best Buy

Topic:

The '2nd Launch' of The Xbox 360 in the US is Tomorrow at Best Buy Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Tomorrow Sunday the 18th of December marks apparently the second major wave of Xbox 360 consoles becoming available.

Best Buy is supposed to have Xbox 360 premium and Xbox 360 core consoles in stock tomorrow (in stores only I guess) for those who still did not score a Xbox 360 before the Holidays. This opportunity is also for those who did or do not want to spend $1,000 on a Xbox 360 bundle.
Chris Lambert's Xbox 360 tracking site has a cool Google map powered Best Buy Xbox 360 inventory locator. I checked the Best Buy stores in the San Francisco Bay area. The Best Buy store in San Carlos is supposed to have 48 Xbox 360s in stock. The store in Sunnyvale only has 24 consoles in stock. The San Francisco Best Buy store on Harrison has 50 apparently.
So get your blanky and thermos ready for another camping out on a Best Buy parking lot near you. Read more
