Early Best Buy Black Friday Deals Feature $498.99 42-inch HDTVs

Topic:

Early Best Buy Black Friday Deals Feature $498.99 42-inch HDTVs Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review This is how we like it. Best Buy just published on their homepage a deal on a 42-inch Panasonic Plasma HDTV for $498.99. To find a 42-inch HDTV for under $500 has not been easy so far. I could not not find one on Amazon for instance. We reported this week that Walmart is offering a 42-inch Sharp LCD HDTV for $498 tomorrow. Best Buy is apparently attacking this Walmart early Black Friday deal.

Best Buy offers the Panasonic TC-P42C1 42-inch Plasma HDTV for $498.99. I actually prefer this TV over the Walmart offer, which is a 42-inch Sharp LC42SB45UT for $498. Best Buy sells the TC-P42C1 online right now here - better hurry.

Best Buy Taking Droid Pre-Orders Now Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Alright, so you've been following the progress of the Motorola Droid since it was called the Sholes. You waited with bated breath until the official pricing and availability were announced. Now you've got the money in hand and a burning desire to turn it into a high-end smartphone. The question is...where should you buy it from?

Best Buy sent out a press release today announcing that the Droid is now available for pre-order. It'll cost you $199.99 with a 2 year Verizon contract, which is the same price you'll find everywhere else. What sets Best Buy apart, however, is the way they handle rebates. The normal rebate process is a huge hassle, and customers often fail to send in for their rebates as a result.

Nokia Booklet: $599 At Best Buy?

Topic:

Nokia Booklet: $599 At Best Buy? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

The Nokia Booklet could be here sooner than most people expected. Rumor, and a leaked inventory shot from Phone Arena (via Boy Genius), has it that the Booklet started shipping over to the retailer on September 25. That means some Best Buys are already stocked with the 1.6 GHz, 120 GB, Win 7-running, 12 hour battery life monster of a 3G netbook.

If the Booklet has been shipping for several days already, the official launch could be imminent. According to the same inventory shot, customers interested in a Booklet will have to shell out $599 for the privilege of owning one. That appears to just be a base price though; it's possible that users will be able to buy the netbook for cheaper as part of a cell phone/data plan.

Nokia Booklet Exclusive To Best Buy

Topic:

Nokia Booklet Exclusive To Best Buy Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

No one in their right mind would argue that the Nokia Booklet isn't really, really hot. It's a netbook with 3G enabled, an accelerometer, a SIM slot, 720p display, Win 7, a 16 hour working battery life, HDMI out, an Atom Z530 processor, and more. The only thing that's not to love is the price. Based on its cost in Euros, the Booklet runs about $810.

When it launches in the U.S. exclusively with Best Buy (Gizmodo via Phone Scoop), the Booklet will likely see a bit of a price reduction. That said, unless a carrier steps in and offers to subsidize it, I can't see the price dropping below $700.

"Some users will be able to perform the upgrade on their own, once they receive their disc from their computer’s manufacturer," said Geek Squad Agent Alex Smith. "For users with more complicated installations, such as upgrading from Windows XP, the process is more involved. It may be better to leave such computers as is or buy a new machine entirely. We’ve built a couple of basic tools that can help you through the upgrade process - Best Buy Labs. And for those who simply don’t want to deal with the hassle – we’re ready to help."

HDMI out was also confirmed. This new smartphone will also have WiFi, instant one-click access to most social media sites, and visual voicemail. Want iPhone Insurance? Go to Best Buy

Topic:

Want iPhone Insurance? Go to Best Buy Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

The worst part of owning a nice smartphone is living with the constant fear that you will break it. In the past, iPhone users have been the worst off of all smartphone users in this regard. Apple only offers a very limited 2 year AppleCare Warranty, while AT&T has told iPhone owners point blank that they're on their own if they break something.

That's all changing during next week's iPhone 3GS launch. We've just learned that Best Buy intends to offer their Black Tie Protection service to people who purchase an iPhone from their store. If you want an iPhone from Best Buy you will be able to get one on launch day, although you'll have to wait an extra three hours for the store to open at 10:00 A.M.

Palm Pre Deal At Best Buy

Topic:

Palm Pre Deal At Best Buy Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Palm fans, if you're looking to buy a Pre come June 6, you should probably pick it up from Best Buy. When the Pre goes on sale across the nation next month, it will retail for $299.99 in virtually every store. Sure, they'll all come with $100 dollar mail in rebates, but who wants to deal with those? They're a hassle to send out, and it takes weeks (if not months) for your money to even show up.

Don't worry, though. In what might be the only genuine gesture of customer appreciation I've ever seen from a big box store, Best Buy has announced that they will be selling the Palm Pre for $199.99, straight up, with no rebates to worry about whatsoever.
