Vista Ships and Bill Gates was not Funny on The Daily Show
I just watched The Daily Show that had Bill Gates as guest. Mr. Gates must have been already exhausted from the Windows Vista launch celebrations at Time Square as his answers mostly where shallow and not interesting. He could have done better. At least he could have answered more technical. He seemed to try to keep it simple and mainstream. I think the Daily Show audience is more knowledgeable and he could have been more specific and technical. Maybe Ballmer would have been a better choice with a higher entertainment factor.
The only funny thing was that Mr. Gates left too early at the end of the interview. Hey, is he not watching the show? Also The Daily Show did not bring out John Hodgman (PC guy in the Apple ads) but displayed a big Microsoft Vista logo the whole time during the interview. At least Jon Stewart did get a free copy of Vista Ultimate and he can call Bill Gates when he has questions on how to use it.
Amazon.com already shipped out Windows Vista. Ours is on the way for a certain exciting purpose.

The Perfect SLR for Bill Gates
If Bill Gates was in the market for the best darn SLR camera in all the land what would he buy to satisfy his need for the best? WWBD (What Would Bill DO)? I think Bill would jump on the monstrous Hasselblad H3D-31 SLR.
This massive camera takes a whopping 31 megapixels in each photo and has an ISO rating of 800. The capture rate for pictures is a swift 1.2 seconds so you should never miss a shot. Heck that shutter speed might be fast enough to actually catch my two-year-old daughter in a shot for a change as she zips around like Superman. Read more

Bill Gates Receiving Another Humanitarian Award
When you head the largest philanthropic foundation in the world, it's no surprise when you get an award for humanitarian efforts. Bill Gates has been honored by several countries for his charity, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and now he's receiving a relatively new award titled the James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award.
The award is presented by The Tech Museum. "From Microsoft's early days, to the founding of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates has consistently made philanthropy a priority, and demonstrated that technology can be applied not just to business problems, but for the benefit of humankind," said The Tech Museum's president, Peter Friess. "We are delighted to honor Bill Gates with this award, and to celebrate his humanitarian contributions with the next generation of innovators who can take great inspiration from his example."

Say Goodbye To Bill Gates, Hi To Ray Ozzie
It's the big news story that's turning heads all over the world ever since the story broke last night. Arguably the most important name in technology, 50-year-old Microsoft founder Bill Gates announced yesterday that effective July 2008, he will only be working "part-time" at Microsoft. Said Gates in a news conference on Thursday, "The change we're seeing today is not a retirement, it's a reordering of my priorities."
Gates says he will move to a more full-time position with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (link), but will continue to stay as a chairman and advisor to Microsoft. Gates's position at Microsoft will be filled by current exec Ray Ozzie (link). It'll be tough to see Microsoft headed by someone else, though considering he's got over $50 billion, I can hardly blame Mr. Gates's decision.

Bill Gates CES KeyNote (Video and Transcript)
If you missed the Bill Gates CES Keynote webcast last night on microsoft.com, there is no concern to panic, the video and full transcript is now available here.
Online blogger pub Engadget, uploaded a realtime text/photo report from the Hilton Hotel keynote. Check out the excerpt below:
7:45 - On Portable Media Center—partnership with MTV, who is working with the “Windows ecosystem”, and expected to work with MS on PlaysForSure biz. Oh, and TiVoToGo (which we already told you quite enough about), but also the ability move of content to PMC-enabled devices.
7:50 - Expect Oregon Scientific alarm clocks and other such smallish devices that will connect and pull data from the SPOT network! Hype!
7:52 - On gaming: game development is going to be made simpler in ports between Xbox and the PC. Xbox hugely successful in 2004, outsold PS2 (hey, it made our comeback of the year noms list!). Xbox live and Halo 2 stuff; you guys are in the know. Gates believes that gaming is becoming a hugely social activity, especially enabled by high speed connections. Some nerd is demoing a racing game ala 2000 replete with mods and customs.
7:55 - Whoa, a Blue Screen of Death on the Xbox! Damn, this is a Microsoft address!
Photo: Bill and NBC's "Late Night," host Conan O'Brien hanging out in Las Vegas before the show.
