Prepare For Black Friday 2010 Based On Our Black Friday 2009 Observations
Black Friday 2010 is on November 26th, but you should already make a mark in your calendar on October 30th, if you are serious about getting the best Black Friday 2010 deals.
We have covered the Black Friday 2009 deals in great detail last year and I hope you have benefited from it and scored some great deals.
What we have seen is that retailers offered in many cases better deals the weeks before Black Friday than on the actual Black Friday day.
Sears and Kmart kicked off the Black Friday sales on Saturday October 29th 2009. On November 2nd Walmart rolled back already prices on 100 toys and on the 4th Walmart announced their first round of hot Black Friday deals for the weekend of November 7th including a $298 Laptop and the Xbox 360 Arcade Console $199 with $100 Walmart Gift Card.
Amazon moved against the Walmart offers and matched them saving you from having to go down to the mall.
Best Buy got into the Black Friday Sales game around the same time pushing down the bargain laptop price to $249.
The Black Friday deal wheel turned again and again on each weekend until the Thanksgiving week was reached. Amazon has taken over the Thanksgiving week and made it a Black Friday Sales Week and Walmart built up the excitement for their in-store only Black Friday deals.

Simplexity Breaks Sales Records On Black Friday/Cyber Monday
Continuing the parade of Black Friday success stories is Simplexity, one of the Internet's largest mobile phone retailers. Yesterday they reported that their Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales broke new records. They averaged one phone sale every seven seconds on both days. Traffic to their websites, including Wirefly.com, was nearly double what it was last year.
In total, Simplexity saw sales rise 84% this year over last year. It's not hard to see why. When I did my Black Friday coverage, the one area of both Best Buys that was always crowded was the mobile phone aisle. Buying a new mobile on Black Friday can be a nightmare. Smart shoppers avoid the hassle by going online.

QVC Black Friday Three-Day Sale A Huge Success
This year, for the first time ever, multimedia shopping network QVC held a Black Friday shopping event. Now they've sent out a press release announcing that the sale was an enormous success. Over the three day sale, QVC saw some 815,000 customers take advantage of their deals. This year was QVC's largest Black Friday ever, with over 60,000 new customers recorded.

Online Black Friday Was Bigger Than Cyber Monday
Retail Decisions (ReD), a payment processing and card issuing company unveiled today that US online retail spending reached $2.2 billion on Cyber Monday, up 35% from last year. However Black Friday's online sales value was $3.1 billion, up a whopping 52% on 2008.
Also there are contrary numbers available, my observations fit more to this picture. The online deals were better on Black Friday than they were on Cyber Monday.
We have seen much more traffic on Thanksgiving Day and on Black Friday compared to Cyber Monday.

CEA Says Black Friday Sales Were Strong
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are both over for 2009. The CEA has reported that Black Friday sales were strong this year with consumers taking advantage of Friday and weekend specials at retailers.
The predictions CEA made of a 6% sales increase compared to last year were accurate. A survey conducted by the CEA claims that 40% of adults tend to purchase technology gifts this holiday season. Read more

Vizio Breaks Record With 280,000 HDTVs Sold During Black Friday Week
VIZIO, again America's #1 LCD HDTV Company, announced today that U.S. consumers purchased over 280,000 VIZIO HDTVs during the week of Black Friday 2009.
This was a 40% increase over VIZIO's Black Friday sales in 2008. Vizio attributes this success to features such as TruLED backlights with Smart Dimming, fast 120/240Hz refresh rates and a full product range from 19" to 55".

Pricegrabber.com Offers Black Friday Online Stats
Black Friday has come and gone. The economy certainly limited what many consumers spent this year and Pricegrabber.com is offering some statistics for online sales. Some of the products with the biggest average price drops for Black Friday were docking stations, seeing a 50% discount, MP3 players dropping 33%, 26% discounts on plasma and LCD TVs, and 12% discounts on microwaves.
The top ten categories for growth on Black Friday were tires of all things at 118%, freezers at 104%, washer/dryers at 70%, swings and bouncers at 58%, HDTV replacement lamps at 48%, and refrigerators at 30%. The best growth in electronics categories were cell phones at 18%, laptops at 7%, and PS3s at 12%. It appears that more people are buying things needed in the home for Christmas this year rather than the items they might really want. Read more

This Black Friday Saw $595 Million In U.S. Online Spending
I want you all to stop for a second and really try to wrap your brains around the number five-hundred and ninety-five million. I'll even write it out; 595,000,000. See how many zeroes that is? It's an enormous number, well over half a billion. It almost boggles the mind to think that we spent the whole of this mighty sum shopping online for Black Friday.
ComScore reports that this number represents an 11% boost in spending over last year. This is good news for retailers, who have spent the last few weeks feverishly trying to entice customers with all manner of insane deals. Now, it appears they succeeded.

In The Thick Of It: A Black Friday Report
Last Thursday and Friday, I tore myself from the comfortable bosom of my nice, warm office and went to report on some Black Friday deals. Aside from the interminable lines and overwhelming crowds, it was a pretty good time. This Black Friday was one of the largest in recent memory, a statistic that doesn't surprise me even a little. By 1:00 AM Friday morning the line outside of Best Buy was more than 200 people long.
Though the crowds were insane on Black Friday, the buying frenzy was less so. The doorbuster deals went fast, like they always do, but there were a great deal of big-ticket items that failed to move with the same speed. HDTVs were one of the most popular items of the day, yet there were still dozens upon dozens of 32"-40" devices on the sales floor when I left.

Black Friday 2009 Had More Shoppers But Average Spending Was Down
Black Friday 2009 is over and it is time to look how well it went for retailers. The Black Friday sales are an indicator for the economy. The new NRF's (National Retail Federation) Black Friday survey conducted by BIGresearch shows that 195 million shoppers visited stores and websites over Black Friday weekend (includes Thursday to Sunday), up from 172 million last year.
The average spending over the weekend dropped to $343.31 per person from $372.57 a year ago according to the survey. Total spending reached an estimated $41.2 billion.

Top 10 Black Friday 2009 Sales Charts See Wii And GPS On Top
This is the first holiday shopping season that has no Wii supply issue in the United States. This year the price of the Wii dropped to $199 and we actually have seen the Wii sell as low as $169.99.
It is no surprise that the Wii is to be found on the top spots of Black Friday sales charts.
Retail Decisions (ReD) a card payment processing company has published their analyses of the Black Friday sales activity. According to their numbers Black Friday 2009 online retail sales have reached $3 billion, up on last year by 52%.

Black Friday 2009 Sees Lots Of Shoppers And Less Chaos
So far reports of crowds going crazy for deals on Black Friday have not surfaced. Our own coverage on the ground at Best Buy and Walmart stores showed a lively but orderly shopping activity.
According to a new Reuters report the Black Friday 2009 turnout is seen stronger. If the shopper traffic will also result in great sales for retailers remains to be seen.

7 Top Black Friday Laptop Deals Still On Sale
The bargain Laptops that Walmart ($198 eMachines) and Best Buy ($197 HP) offered as Black Friday doorbuster deals are long gone and have not been on sale online.
Early Black Friday several notebooks for under $300 have been on sale online, but most have sold out now.
I just scanned the major retailers and only found a $299.99 laptop on Tiger Direct. They sell the 15.6-inch eMachines eME627-5082 with AMD Athlon 1.6Ghz, 2GB, 160GB HDD still online.

Best Buy Black Friday In-Store Impressions
If you have stayed home and do your Black Friday Shopping online then there is one thing missing: The sight of piles of products in colorful boxes and price labels that mess with your brain.
Robert, our Black Friday reporter on the scene, spent some time roaming a Best Buy in Texas and taking some snap shots. He tweeted his observations in our Twitter feed.
At the Best Buy store he was at, the crowds were not too crazy, despite the lines and campers we saw during the night.

5 Top Black Friday Netbook Deals That Are Still On Sale
The best Black Friday netbook deals like the $179.99 Compaq Mini offered by Best Buy are long gone.
I have scanned the major Black Friday Online Sales and still found some good netbook deals. As far as my research goes I could not find any $200 netbook on sale anywhere anymore.

The lowest priced netbook is offered by Dell. The still sell the Dell mini v10 for $249 in their Black Friday Sale.

Google Analyzed Black Friday 2009 Trends, Zhu Zhu Is Of Course On Top
Google published today search term analysis of hot holiday gifts. Using Google Insights for Search, Google identified the holiday gifts that were most searched for this year until Black Friday.
The hot gift trends in toys include Zhu Zhu Pets, Nerf N-Strike, Mindflex and the Twilight soundtrack.
In electronics netbooks, mini notebook computers and mp3 players have been on top.
I am not sure what mini notebook computers are supposed to be. I guess that is what many consumers understand under a netbook.

Zhu Zhu Hamsters In Stock In ToysRUs Black Friday Sales Event
A week ago ToysRUs announced to have Zhu Zhu Pets in stock on Black Friday in-stores.
ToysRUs is supposed to have tens of thousands of Zhu Zhu Pets in stock starting Black Friday. No other retailer has announced to have Zhu Zhu Pets on Black Friday.
The first 100 customers in line at their local Toys"R"Us store on Black Friday will each be given a ticket for the opportunity to purchase a Zhu Zhu Pet (with a limit of one per household). Since ToysRUs opened at midnight these 100 Zhu Zhu pets might be gone by now.
