BlackBerry Storm2 Launches On Verizon On October 28th
The new BlackBerry Storm2 is launching on Verizon Wireless this coming Wednesday. RIM made the new touchscreen BlackBerry official 11 days ago. What was missing was pricing and the launch date.
The new BlackBerry Storm2 smartphone is available for $179.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement on a voice plan with an Email and Web feature or an Email and Web for BlackBerry plan.
Customers will receive the mail-in rebate in the form of a debit card; upon receipt, customers may use the card as cash anywhere debit cards are accepted. Data plans for the BlackBerry Storm2 smartphone begin at $29.99 when added to any Nationwide voice plan.

BlackBerry Storm 2 Dummy Units Spotted
It won't be long now. Gizmodo's posted some screenshots of BlackBerry Storm 2 dummy display units over in Best Buy and Verizon stores. When the display units filter in, it's usually only a matter of days or (at most) weeks before we see a full-scale launch.
The Storm 2 is currently rumored to launch on-or-around October 25. These sightings lend credence to that rumor. I'd be very surprised if the Storm 2 launches much later than the 25th, and it's pretty much certain to hit before the end of the month.

Firmware Update To Make BlackBerry Storm Not Suck?
The BlackBerry Storm has some issues. It's been panned by many critics, and users alike for it's slow speed, buggy nature, and sub-par touchscreen. For a phone that was supposed to bring RIM back into the winner's circle, the Storm was pretty much a complete failure. Fortunately, it looks like RIM has fixed the major problems of the Storm, just in time to release the vastly superior Storm 2.
If you're one of the folks who bought a Storm and immediately regretted it, you could be about to get restitution. PhoneArena reports that there is a firmware update en route to you right now. This update will make the Storm and Storm 2 "practically identical" when it comes to software.

BlackBerry Storm 2 Already Reviewed By Walt Mossberg
The BlackBerry Storm 2 (Storm2) launch is supposed to happen as reported earlier today. More indication that the Storm2 is coming soon is the short BlackBerry Storm 2 review Walter Mossberg has just published for the WSJ.
RIM and Verizon Wireless are apparently very careful in setting up a nice welcome for the Storm 2 in the press to avoid the bad reception the first Storm got.

Blackberry Storm 9530 Review
OCModShop published a review of the BlackBerry Storm.
Quote from the review: "With the Storm, you certainly get a lot of functionality that Apple either ignored or decided we weren't ready for some push functions and copy/paste most notably. Windows Mobile devices have included most of the capabilities of the Storm for a long while, but minus the tremendous connectedness of a Blackberry.

BlackBerry Storm 2 Fixing Touch-Screen Troubles?
With reports circulating that RIM is set to release the BlackBerry Storm 2 this September, the rumors of new features for the iPhone rival are beginning to spread. As reported earlier on I4U, new Wi-Fi capabilities may be on the menu, along with an improved typing interface, according to Unwired View.
BlackBerry must have been listening to critics who slammed the mobile for its cramped keyboard and sluggish response time. The most notable being The New York Times’ David Pogue who questioned, “How did this thing ever reach the market?”.

This is a pretty good price for the touchscreen BlackBerry. At Verizon Wireless you get two BlackBerry Storm for $199.99. I assume Verizon had to give its partners the possibility to match that pricing. LetsTalk also offers the BlackBerry Storm for $99.99 right now as well.

Verizon posted some good earnings for last quarter. According to Computer World the carrier said that the BlackBerry Storm smart phone has already sold 1 million units through January 2009.
Sale of the BlackBerry Storm started on November 21st. Yesterday we ran a story that features a WSJ reported number of 500,000 Storm phones sold in the first month. Apparently Verizon was able to keep up the launch momentum and reached the respectable 1 million milestone. This cannot be described as a bumpy start, at least not in reference to the sale number.
