Good news, BlackBerry fans. Boy Genius has just gotten word that the BlackBerry 9630 will be coming to U.S. Cellular's CDMA network. The release date and the cost haven't been given yet, but the fact that the spec sheet is listed on their website points to an imminent release.

Sprint Customers Get Blackberry Tour

The Blackberry Tour has been on the market for a while, and it is a very good mobile phone. I reviewed the Tour for Verizon when it was first offered and liked the phone. Sprint customers who liked what they saw in the Blackberry Tour can now get their own version of the Tour.

Sprint announced today that the Tour is now available on its network and supports the Sprint 3G mobile network. The Tour has the same features that the Verizon version has including GPS, Internet access, QWERTY keyboard, and more. Read more

Otter Box Offers Cases for Blackberry Tour

Otter box has been making cases for all sorts of phones like the iPhone and Blackberry devices for years. The company has announced its latest cases are now available for the Blackberry Tour smartphone.

Otter Box is offering two cases for the Tour including the defender and the Impact. The Defender case retails for $49.95 and is designed to protect the Tour from drops, bumps, dust, and shock. All of the keys and ports are accessible while the phone is in the case and the case has a belt clip built-in. Read more

BlackBerry Tour: 275,000+ Sales Opening Day

It's been a few weeks since RIM had a spot of real good news. In the wake of the iPhone, the Palm Pre, and the bevy of new Android releases it's been easy to forget about the BlackBerry Tour. Thankfully for RIM, their customers didn't. The new smartphone launched this weekend and sold between 275,000 and 300,000 units in its first 24 hours.

As a general rule, a mobile phone needs to sell around 100,000 units in order to be considered successful. By that metric, the BlackBerry Tour is already doing spectacularly. Terrible app store aside, RIM knows how to make smartphones that people love. The Tour isn't a ground-breaking device, but it'll keep the money flowing while RIM builds something that is.

The Verizon BlackBerry Tour Pre-Order Shenanigans

Smartphone drama strikes! Yesterday Boy Genius castigated Verizon for refusing to allow upgrading customers to pre-order the new BlackBerry Tour. This policy was rightly seen as unfair by a lot of VZW customers. They complained loudly, and in large enough numbers that Verizon was forced to take notice.

This morning they posted that the situation was being remedied. Current customers upgrading to a Tour will be able to do so on the site starting Monday, July 13th, when the rest of the pre-orders begin. Apparently the squeaky wheel does get the grease. This is exactly why it is important to be an active and informed consumer. Your voice can have an impact if you can get enough other people to complain along with you.
