Sony BRAVIA D3000 MotionFlow +100Hz HDTV Ships
The new Sony BRAVIA D3000 series LCD HDTV with Motionflow +100Hz technology start to ship in Europe.
We reported about the Sony D3000 HDTVs in March, when Sony introduces the new series at the Sony Media Experience in Rhodes. The selling point on the D3000 is the 100Hz technology and the visible improvement on long camera moves in movies. The D3000 also supports 24p True Cinema for Blu-ray movies.
The only issue with the D3000 series is the resolution. These new Sony HDTVs do not support full HDTV resolution. The sets only features a WXGA panel with 1,366 x 768px.

Sony BRAVIA Theatre RHT-G800 Versus Pioneer B-07
Sony introduced the BRAVIA Theatre RHT-G800 TV stand (photo below) with integrated 5.1 surround speakers last week at the Sony Media Experience. Researching the new Plasma TVs Pioneer announced today in Japan, I stumbled over the Pioneer B-07 AV rack (photo )that also features integrated speakers as well as a rather similar design.
A closer look reveals that the Pioneer B-07 only incorporates the front speakers into the TV-stand. You need the HTP-07 surround sound system in addition to achieve 5.1 surround sound.
Sony's TV-Stand has all speakers and the amplifier inside the rack.

Sony BRAVIA D3000 with Motionflow +100Hz is Very Nice
Sony announced the new BRAVIA LCD HDTV series D3000 at the Sony Media Experience in Rhodes this week. At the BRAVIA workshop the positive effect Motionflow adds was very obvious.
Sony calls the 100Hz/120Hz technology for LCD TVs Motionflow +100Hz.
The Sony solution creates and adds extra frames based on the originals, causing the eye to perceive motion as far smoother and more realistic than in the unenhanced source. Motionflow +100Hz works with both sources using film-based contents and standard TV and DVD.
With the D3000 BRAVIA TVs 24p True Cinema experience is possible from Blu-ray movies. This feature is nice to have, but not a must. The 4% time difference over a whole movie when watching it on 25fps versus 24fps is not that noticeable. But hey, why watch a movie differently than it was originally produced? So 24p True Cinema should become a standard feature anyways.

Sony BRAVIA VPL-AW15, VPL-AW10 Projectors and DynaClear Screen
Sony introduced several new products at the Sony Media Experience down in Rhodes. One of them is the first home cinema projector under the BRAVIA brand.
The Sony BRAVIA VPL-AW15 HD Ready projector has great specifications like 1,300 lumens brightness, 12,000:1 contrast ratio, 24p True Cinema and 20db low noise level.
The lens can be shifted horizontally and vertically. The horizontal shift is a bit limited with 0.25. The already outdated Sanyo PLV-Z4 supported already 0.5.
The price will be about 1,400 Euro. Which will be translating into $1,400 USD I assume. Release is supposed to be in June 2007.
The coolest thing on the demonstration of the BRAVIA AW-Series projector at the workshop presentation for me was the DynaClear screen. The Sony Dynaclear is a 80 inch portable screen featuring a special screen material that brings provides a very high contrast even in bright ambient light, so you get a great picture at any time of day or night. See a photo of the screen in action below.
