Acer Adds Business & Value Series LCDs
Acer announced two new families of LCDs recently called the Business Series and the Value series. The B-series displays range in size from 17 to 24-inch and include several models. All B-series displays have black bezels and a black base. The B-series also uses Acer’s FlxArm technology for height adjustment, tilt and swivel as well as rotation. B-series interface options include VGA and DVI with HDCP support.
The B-series displays have 5ms response times and 2000:1 to 3000:1 dynamic contrast ratios. It seems that other than the FlxArm technology the two series of displays are very similar. The displays are available now at dealers across America. Read more

NEC Launches NP3151W Business Projector
NEC announced a new projector today for use in the business and education environments. The projector is called the NP3151W and has 4000 lumen brightness and a 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution. The projector also includes built-in wireless connectivity for wireless sharing of the projector from networked computers.
NEC says that the projector uses advanced HQV processing and detail enhancement to help improve picture quality. Optional quick-mount lenses allow the projector to throw images from 40 to 500 inches. The projector also supports Windows Network Projector functionality with Windows Vista. Read more

Samsung Integrates Digital Camera and CE Business
Samsung announced today that it plans to integrate two arms of its business in March of 2008. The integration will be of Samsungs digital camera and consumer electronics business. According to Samsung the consolidation of the two units will add new competitive advantages.
"Bringing the digital still camera business into the fold of our broader consumer electronics operations is the next logical step in the evolution of our digital imaging business," said Tim Baxter, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Samsung Electronics America. Kyocera Buys Sanyo's Mobile Phone Business
Kyocera Corporation announced today that it has reached an agreement with SANYO Electric Co to take over Sanyo’s mobile phone business. The agreement was approved today and will go into effect April 1, 2008.
"This transaction will yield great synergies and economies of scale in areas such as technology portfolios, R&D, procurement, design, marketing and sales," said Makoto Kawamura, president of Kyocera Corporation, the group's global parent. "Furthermore, the Kyocera and SANYO product portfolios are highly complementary, and will allow us to offer a broader lineup of handsets and data devices to all of our carrier customers." Read more

Acer Introduces Budget Extensa Business Notebooks
Acer announced a new line of notebook computers today called Extensa. The Extensa 4620 notebook is now available in North America and is aimed at business users. The Extensa uses the same chassis as the TravelMate notebooks.
The screen size is 14.1-inches and the system runs on Windows XP Pro, but is Vista capable. Available processors include Intel Centrino duo or Pentium dual-core components and hard drive capacities of up to 120GB are available. Read more

Music Titles boost Video Game Business in 2007

great year for the video game industry, driven largely by the rising popularity
of music-based titles.
Total video game sales (hardware and software)
through October was $10.5 billion, compared with $7 billion for the same period
last year, according to data from NPD Group.

Sony forms In-Game Advertising Business Unit
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) Inc. today announced the creation of a new in-game advertising business unit.
SCEA announced a partnership with Nielsen Media Research in July. Together the companies are working to develop measurement systems for game network advertising. SCEA will share its game network data from PLAYSTATION 3 as well as PLAYSTATION Network including PLAYSTATION Home.

SAP announces to acquire Business Objects for $6.8 billion. This is the largest aquisition for the German business software maker.
Under the terms and conditions of the tender offer agreement, SAP will make a cash offer of € 42.00 per ordinary share and for American Depositary Shares (ADS) at the US$ equivalent based on the EUR/US$ exchange rate as of the settlement of the tender offers. The transaction volume taking into account the transaction costs will be slightly above €4.8 billion (~$6.8 billion).
