Early Best Buy Black Friday Deals Feature $498.99 42-inch HDTVs
This is how we like it. Best Buy just published on their homepage a deal on a 42-inch Panasonic Plasma HDTV for $498.99. To find a 42-inch HDTV for under $500 has not been easy so far. I could not not find one on Amazon for instance. We reported this week that Walmart is offering a 42-inch Sharp LCD HDTV for $498 tomorrow. Best Buy is apparently attacking this Walmart early Black Friday deal.
Best Buy offers the Panasonic TC-P42C1 42-inch Plasma HDTV for $498.99. I actually prefer this TV over the Walmart offer, which is a 42-inch Sharp LC42SB45UT for $498. Best Buy sells the TC-P42C1 online right now here - better hurry.

New Study: Pirates Buy The Most Music
A new study from the UK (via The Independent) has shown what many piracy-advocates have been saying for years. While the average person spends around £34 a year on music, people who self-identify as pirates spend an average of £77. The pirates are also the ones buying music in greater quantities. For years, piracy advocates have claimed that most users only pirate as a way to 'test' new bands and seek out more music to buy.
While no study can prove that fact 100%, this is certainly more evidence in favor of it. More importantly, this news should be a sign to the labels that, by punishing pirates, they're only hurting their biggest customers. I'm no fan of illegal downloading, but it's not something any corporation of government entity is ever going to be able to erase. Pirates will always find a way.

Best Buy Taking Droid Pre-Orders Now
Alright, so you've been following the progress of the Motorola Droid since it was called the Sholes. You waited with bated breath until the official pricing and availability were announced. Now you've got the money in hand and a burning desire to turn it into a high-end smartphone. The question is...where should you buy it from?
Best Buy sent out a press release today announcing that the Droid is now available for pre-order. It'll cost you $199.99 with a 2 year Verizon contract, which is the same price you'll find everywhere else. What sets Best Buy apart, however, is the way they handle rebates. The normal rebate process is a huge hassle, and customers often fail to send in for their rebates as a result.

iBUYPOWER Gamer Paladin E870 i7 Gaming System Review
ThinkComputers published a review of the iBUYPOWER Gamer Paladin E870 i7 Gaming System.
Quote from the review: "When it comes to gamers they want the newest and most powerful gaming systems out there. They really only have 2 choices, build a gaming PC themselves or get a custom gaming PC built for them. There are really only a few of reliable, well known custom builders out there and today we will be taking a look at a system from once such builder, iBUYPOWER.

Top 10 Tech Gifts For Christmas NOT To Buy Now
Over the weekend I published the Top 10 Tech Gifts For Christmas To Buy Now, because they are either hard to find or are likely not to fall in price. Today I am offering up the top 10 tech gifts I suggest you don't buy right now and wait until later. For some the reason is that new versions will be announced and for others it makes sense to wait for great Black Friday 2009 Deals.
Take for instance the Apple iMac. You need to wait as new Apple iMac are likely going to be announced soon. Same is true for the low-end plastic MacBook that is also rumored to be updated and offered at a lower price.

Top 10 Tech Gifts For Christmas To Buy Now
There are basically three strategies for buying Christmas gifts: Start really early like Summer, bet on Black Friday and Thanksgiving Deals or hunt the mall on the 24th of December.
It is not Summer anymore and I actually have ten hot gifts that you can and some you actually should buy now without being called crazy. If you see a Zhu Zhu Hamster for around 10 bucks somewhere just buy it and hide it in the cellar - it does not need food and does not poop. Zhu Zhu Pets are an example of a holiday gift that is EHTF (extremely hard to find).

Black Friday 2009 Deals Will Not Be So Great At Best Buy?
Black Friday 2009 is about two month away, but you might want to go ahead and cancel your camping trip to the Best Buy parking lot as Best Buys' CEO is not planning to offer heavy discounts and instead is highlighting service during the holiday shopping season.
Last year the Best Buy Black Friday Doorbuster deals included Panasonic 50" 480HZ 720P Plasma TV for $899.99, Garmin - nüvi 260w GPS for $189.99, and Transformers - Blu-ray for $9.99.

Nokia Booklet: $599 At Best Buy?
The Nokia Booklet could be here sooner than most people expected. Rumor, and a leaked inventory shot from Phone Arena (via Boy Genius), has it that the Booklet started shipping over to the retailer on September 25. That means some Best Buys are already stocked with the 1.6 GHz, 120 GB, Win 7-running, 12 hour battery life monster of a 3G netbook.
If the Booklet has been shipping for several days already, the official launch could be imminent. According to the same inventory shot, customers interested in a Booklet will have to shell out $599 for the privilege of owning one. That appears to just be a base price though; it's possible that users will be able to buy the netbook for cheaper as part of a cell phone/data plan.

Nokia Booklet Exclusive To Best Buy
No one in their right mind would argue that the Nokia Booklet isn't really, really hot. It's a netbook with 3G enabled, an accelerometer, a SIM slot, 720p display, Win 7, a 16 hour working battery life, HDMI out, an Atom Z530 processor, and more. The only thing that's not to love is the price. Based on its cost in Euros, the Booklet runs about $810.
When it launches in the U.S. exclusively with Best Buy (Gizmodo via Phone Scoop), the Booklet will likely see a bit of a price reduction. That said, unless a carrier steps in and offers to subsidize it, I can't see the price dropping below $700.

Best Buy's Geek Squad Upgrades Your XP Or Vista PC To Windows 7 For $39.99
Best Buys' Geek Squad offer full upgrade service for customers moving to Windows 7 from Windows Vista or Windows XP for $39.99. Normally they charge for a Operating System Install $129.99.

"Some users will be able to perform the upgrade on their own, once they receive their disc from their computer’s manufacturer," said Geek Squad Agent Alex Smith. "For users with more complicated installations, such as upgrading from Windows XP, the process is more involved. It may be better to leave such computers as is or buy a new machine entirely. We’ve built a couple of basic tools that can help you through the upgrade process - Best Buy Labs. And for those who simply don’t want to deal with the hassle – we’re ready to help."
