CES 2008 Day 4 and Show Wrap Up
Today wrapped up CES 2008 and this was definitely the year of entertainment. Everything was centered on delivering entertainment to your computer, phone and other sources. Take Logitech for example, their CES product line all dealt with media computers and delivering content to PC users other than video games.
I admit that I was disappointed that there wasn’t much on the gaming side of things this year. Razer only introduced a new gaming mouse pad and focused more on its new endeavor called Joot!, which is a music sharing device for MP3 players.
This was the year of the thin HDTV with most major manufacturers showing off thin HDTV sets in their booths. These HDTVs are cool and all, but really how thin do we need them? If you are going to wall mount thin is nice, but I would wager the vast majority of HDTV owners simply set them on an entertainment center where the thinness is really a moot point. Read more

Coolest Stuff Day 3 at CES 2008
It has been a busy few days here at CES. Today the coolest things I saw were the huge 150-inch plasma TV at the Panasonic booth and the Samsung OLED TVs. The TV is gynormous and has a very nice picture as well. Panasonic wasn’t releasing pricing or availability info on the huge screen. The closest I could get was a statement from the PR gal showing me around that the 103-inch plasma was selling for around $75,000. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the set come in at around the $100,000 area.
Samsung has the most impressive booth at the show with its fantastic looking 31-inch OLED TV. Not only is the set very thin, but the image quality is exceptional. This set has the deepest blacks I have ever seen and reds were better than I have seen as well. Samsung also had a small OLED TV that appeared to be around 11-inches on display as well. Read more

CES 2008: Intel Menlow based MIDs
Intel demonstrated the Menlow platform for mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) at CES 2008.
Several companies have already designed next generation mobile internet devices on the new Intel platform. Some do not look that different from the UMPC's that are currently available.
The FreeScale LimePC platform might enable more radical devices as it is squeezing a PC motherboard with graphics and audio cards, PCI, Ethernet, SATA, and USB into a device smaller than an iPod Nano.
