CES 2010 To Be Smaller Than CES 2009 And Apple Reconfirmed Not To Exhibit

The CES 2010 will be, based on the current estimates of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), smaller than it was this year or the year before.
The current estimates say that 110,000 will attend CES 2010 which would be only down 3,000 from last year.
2,000 companies are supposed to exhibit at CES 2010, which is a actually a lot less compared to CES 2009 which had 2,700. More details on Twice.

Sony Announces 2009 Game Lineup for PS3 and PSP

Sony has announced some of the most anticipated games of 2009 for its PSP and PS3 game systems at the Destination PlayStation event. The PSP is adding new hardware and software to appeal to young female gamers. With Hannah Montana PSP Entertainment Packs with a lilac colored PSP and other items.

Sony also announced that the PSP is getting its first Motorstorm title called Motorstorm Arctic Edge and LittleBigPlanet. The PSP will also get a Rock Band Unplugged title that has the first portable music store for the franchise. Read more

Android disappointed at CES 2009, now also at MWC 2009

After the absence of new Android smartphones at the CES 2009 the hopes where set on the Mobile World Congress 2009 for a big Android showing. Android fans are supposed to be happy with the new HTC Magic coming from Vodafone in Europe. What Android fans actually wanted to see is a high-end Android smartphone that can compete with the iPhone and the upcoming Palm Pre. A HTC Touch Pro2 running Android would have been enough for starters. Read more

Dell Inspiron Mini 10 at CES 2009

Last week I walked all over hell and back (otherwise known as the Las Vegas Convention Center) and somehow managed to completely miss Dell's booth at CES (which is presumably because they had no booth and were in a hotel somewhere like CES 2008). Laptop found the booth though and offers up some tidbits on the new 10-inch Dell Inspiron Mini 10.

This is the netbook Dell should have offered between its first netbook and the Mini 12. A 10-inch netbook is definitely the sweet spot for most consumers with enough screen space and keyboards capable of real work. Read more

CES 2009 Was a Bust

CES 2009 is only days behind us and after spending the week at CES and going to several of the pre-show events, I can say that I found CES 2009 to be one of the worst shows in recent years. We already know that attendance at the show was down compared to other years.

It didn’t take long walking around the show floor to notice that many of the booths were vacant; there was more space around than in previous years. As I walked around the show floor, I found myself thinking that there were very few new and interesting products being shown.

In previous years, hopping into the booth of a large electronics maker like Samsung or LG meant that you would see hoards of new TVs and other items that were coming to market very soon. These products were the focus of the booths and something you could expect consumers to be able to get their hands on. Read more

The Top 10 of CES 2009

CES 2009 is well over and now that the dust has settled it is time to unveil the Top 10 products that have been announced at the CES 2009.
The big trends at CES 2009 have been Thin TVs, 3D for Hometheater, touchscreen netbooks and other touchscreen products, Connected TVs and LED backlight TVs. One phone though managed to set its own trend and be on everybody's CES 2009 top list: the new Palm Pre. The new Palm webOS powered phone has it what it takes to compete with the iPhone and the Google Android phones. Android did not yet reveal their next generation at the CES 2009. The big show-off is in one month at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona.

Palm Pre wins CNET's Best of CES 2009 Award

The new Palm Pre with the new webOS wins CNET's Best of CES 2009 Award.
We are still letting the dust settle and will unveil our top CES 2009 choices later this week, but the Palm Pre really stood out at the CES 2009. It actually stood out so much that it felt out of place with no new Windows Mobile and new Android handsets unveiled at the CES 2009.

Scott Ard, Editor-in-chief of CNET Reviews says about the their award choice: "The Palm Pre truly stood out for its beautiful and smooth design, and simple, easy-to-use interface with a multi-touch screen. Our CNET editors particularly liked the Palm Pre's ability to run multiple applications simultaneously and its open operating system that could prove to be an attractive platform for software developers. CES 2009 saw less Visitors and Booth Babes

As anticipated the CES 2009 saw a decline in visitor numbers compared to the CES 2008. The current numbers published by CEA show a decline by about 20,000 visitors compared the CES 2008.
The CES 2009 was still a big show and the organizers of CES still draw a positive picture. More than 2,700 global companies, including 300 new exhibitors, unveiled an estimated 20,000 new technology products across 1.7 million net square feet of exhibit space. Read more

There have been so many CES 2009 News that we totally missed the new iRiver product announcements. Last year iRiver made it a bit more exciting revealing their new CES 2008 announcements one by one on their Korean site. Best of CES 2009 Day 3

Yesterday was a very long day for me with the Last Gadget Standing competition where I was a judge. The LGS came off without a hitch and hopefully I didn’t look as nervous as I felt while introducing MSI and its new wind U115 notebook to the packed LGS conference room. Alas the wind U115 didn’t win the contest either online or at the show, but it is still a fantastic product that promises up to 15 hours of battery life thanks to its hybrid storage system featuring a SSD and a traditional HDD that can be turned off for ultimate runtime.

Speaking of MSI I poked around their booth and found some very interesting stuff, in fact MSI had some gear on display that I found to be the most exciting items of the show. The first thing that I found really interesting was the thin and small MSI Wind NetBox DU100. These thin little boxes are about half an inch thick and inside are complete netbooks including Ram, Intel Atom CPU, and a 160GB HDD. Read more

CES 2009 Nextar Booth Tour in Photos

Nextar makes more and more a name for themselves with interesting portable devices. Reason enough to feature a tour of the Nextar Booth at CES 2009.
Nextar exhibits at the CES 2009 navigation devices, various photo frames, and even a wireless charging solution dubbed Zero. Looks like Nextar is going to compete with Powermat.
Nextar also unveiled (via OLED-display) a weird MP3 player in the shape of a frog head with an OLED display, which we (luckily) missed at the booth. Read more

Sony MHS-CM1 and MHS-PM1 Webbie HD get unveiled at CES 2009

Sony apparently can't stand it any longer that Pure Digital Technologies sells millions of Flip Mino low-cost Youtube optimized video cameras. Now Sony has unveiled at CES 2009 the Webbie HD line of low-cost pocket camcorders that are aimed at competing with the Flip MinoHD.
The Sony MHS-CM1 and MHS-PM1 Webbie HD cameras capture daily events in high definition video (1440x1080/30p) and 5-megapixel still photos. Embedded software makes it possible to quickly upload content online in a few simple clicks. Read more

CES 2009 Asus Booth Tour in Photos

Asus has introduced a line-up of new notebooks, netbooks, and other gear at the CES 2009. The fact that the new Asus Eee T91 and T101 touchscreen netbooks have no release date yet is a bit disappointing, but besides that Asus is well positioned for 2009.

Jimmy Fallon is what it takes to make the best CES 2009 Video Interview

I've got to hand it to Engadget for publishing the best CES 2009 video interview. They met up with comedian Jimmy Fallon (Saturday Night Live) and talked about investing in Palm before the Palm Pre announcement and making fun of the VAIO P.

Jimmy Fallon tells them that on a hunch he invested a couple thousand Dollars in Palm before their CES announcement. After joking around about that the interview starts to be about the VAIO P. Jimmy Fallon and Engadget's Joshua Topolsky make fun of the VAIO P not being a netbook according to Sony and try to be cool putting the VAIO P in their suit jackets. Read more

First Dell Adamo Laptop appears at CES 2009

Dell teased a new brand dubbed Adamo in December. Now Dell has presented a prototype of the first Laptop in the Dell Adamo line at the Dell press conference at the CES 2009. Engadget got a private viewing and they published several pictures and a video of the black thin new Dell notebook. The Dell Adamo is a minimalist dream and worthy to challenge the MacBook Air.
