Hitachi Whips out Hybrid Blu-Ray Camcorder

Hitachi announced its latest Blu-Ray camcorder recently called the GZ-BD10HA. The Blu-Ray disc hybrid camcorder can record onto the next generation format HD Blu-Ray disc. The camera uses a newly developed seven megapixel CMOS image sensor to capture rich and vibrant video in full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. The camcorder can record up to four hours and 20 minutes full HD video or eight hours and 40 minutes of video at 1440 x 1080 resolution on a built-in 30 GB HDD.

In addition to the 30 GB HDD, the camera also features an SDHC card slot for added memory capacity for storing video and still shots. The camcorder has a dubbing function that allows the HD video to be transferred -- with the push of a button -- from either the HDD or the SDHC card to the camcorders internal Blu-Ray drive without the need of a computer. Canon Unveils Three New VIXA HD Camcorders

Canon added a trio of new HD camcorders including the VIXIA HF 11 Dual Flash Camcorder, the VIXIA HG21, and the VIXIA HG20. All of the cameras can record HD video in 24Mbps bit rate recording in AVCHD format. Canon says the high bit rate allows for enhanced detail, finer tonal gradation, and improved reproduction of moving subjects.

The HF11 records video to an internal 32GB flash drive and has a SDHC slot for adding additional memory. The internal drive can record up to 12 hours of HD video. Both the HG21 and HG20 record to internal HDDs. The HG21 has 120GB of storage and the HG20 has 60GB of storage. The HG21 can record up to 45 hours of video and the HG20 can capture up to 22 hours. One Million Flip Video Camcorders Sold

When Flip Video first announced its camcorder line, I didn’t think much about them. Since the introduction of the Flip Video camcorders, over 1 million of them have been sold in the US according to Pure Digital Technologies.

According to research firm NPD, the Flip Video Ultra is the best selling camcorder in America. The camcorders are all digital and ideal for uploading video to sharing sites like YouTube and MySpace. Pure Digital also announced that the Flip line was Mac compatible not too long ago. Read more

Samsung Introduces New YouTube Camcorder

With the ballooning popularity of YouTube most camcorder makers are starting to produce camcorders that are aimed directly at those who like to upload videos to the YouTube service. The most recent camcorder for the YouTube crowd is the Samsung SC-MX20.

The camera uses a 680K pixel CCD sensor that can shoot video at a resolution of 720 x 480. The optical zoom of the camera is 34x and it uses advanced 3-D Noise Reduction technology for improved video quality. The SC-MX20 stores video on SD/SDHC cards up to 32GB and uses H.264 compression. JVC Introduces Everio Camcorder for YouTube and More

JVC added a new camcorder to its Everio S Series today called the GZ-MS100. The camcorder is designed to make the recording and uploading of videos to YouTube very simple. JVC says that despite the YouTube focus for the camcorder it offers a full fledged array of camcorder features.

The camera records to a SD card and weighs only 0.60 pounds. The camera includes CyberLink software for Windows computers and allows for uploading of video clips with one touch. The camera also has a one-touch button that limits recordings to 10 minutes perfectly sizing video clips for YouTube file size limitations. Read more

Samsung HMX20 full HD Camcorder

Samsung introduces new full HD Camcorder in Korea. The HMX20 line (VM-HMX20C, SC-HMX20C) features 10x zoom and a 6.4MP sensor. Samsung already announced the HMX20 (SC-HMX20C) in January in the U.S. and it actually should start shipping this month.

Canon Launches XL H1S and XL H1A HD Camcorders

Canon launched a pair of new shoulder mount camcorders aimed at video pros this week called the XL H1S and XL H1A. Both are HD camcorders that provide advanced control and feature 20x HD Video lenses and more.

AgfaPhoto Announces the DV-5000Z HD Camcorder

AgfaPhoto announced its latest camcorder this week called the DV-5000Z. The tiny camcorder measures only 4.7-inches x 2.75-inches in size and weighs only 200g. The camera will retail for 249 Euro including VAT.

Videos shot with the camera are in 16:9 format and recorded at 1280x720 pixels. The recording format for video is MPEG-4 and H.264 compression. The camera can record up to 4 hours and 20 minutes on one 8GB SDHC memory card. Read more
