Carbon Fiber MacBooks Underway?
An Apple patent application for a carbon fiber composite shell was released today. This has lead to speculation that Apple is researching ways to build carbon fiber MacBooks and other media devices.
Carbon fiber is extremely durable, and weighs significantly less than other factory metals. Apple's patent specifically states that the fiber will be coated with a thin "scrim" of colored material, so that your stylish new Carbon fiber MacBook will look just as stylish as ever. Personally, I'm a fan of the way carbon fiber looks, and I hope they'll have options for 'natural' cases.

Carbon Fiber F1 Mouse Mat
This may well be the world’s most expensive mouse mat at 260 British pounds, or a bit over $500 dollars. Available exclusively at the Official Formula 1 Website F1 Store, this mouse mat (it’s to cool to be called a mouse pad) is made of solid carbon fiber by the same technicians that create the Formula One monococques.
They even used the same state of the art software to computer design this bad boy. You can get a version of the mouse mat with a leather mousing surface for optical mice and one that has no leather allowing you to see the beautiful carbon fiber in all its glory. That is assuming you plan on using a ball mouse. Read more

Carbon Nanotube TV Go Into Test Production
CNET reports that Applied Nanotech and manufacturer Da Ling agreed to a trial production of Carbon Nanotube TVs.
Carbon Nanotube TVs work like CRTs but are as slim as LCD TVs. Applied Nanotech showed a 25 inch Carbon Nanotube TV prototype last September (photo). The image quality is still pretty bad, but maybe it is just a matter of money to make it work right. The first nanotube TVs could be ready by 2008.
Besides Carbon Nanotube, SED is a hot future TV technology that Canon and Toshiba are pushing.

Rio Carbon Leather Case from Vaja
Gear Live reports about a leather carrying case for the Rio Carbon MP3 Player from Vaja.
Quote:
"Didn't get to mention it on the Rio Carbon review a while ago, but the carry case that comes packed with the unit itself is a real piece of crap. It's quite hard to slide the Carbon out of the case, and though it allows access to the power and scroll wheel, it completely covers the display. Enter Vaja and its wonderfulfly crafted cases, made specifically for the Carbon."
More details on Gear Live.

Rio Carbon Review
Gear Live (a I4U Network Member) reviews the new Rio Carbon 5GB Music Player.
Quote:
"
Leave it up to Rio to make a product so hot that you can’t find it anywhere, except in the back closets of your local Best Buy. There weren’t any on display, but you see, it always pays to ask.
Gear Live finally has its hands on Apple iPod Mini’s direct competitor, the Rio Carbon 5 GB digital audio player. This little number sports an extra gig of space than the Mini.
The first thing you'll notice, like many pieces of technology these days, is the player's size. This thing is so small, it will actually fit in the palm of your hand, and I mean the central part of your palm, as in not resting on the fingers at all.
"
