Apple iPhone available on Cingular in June
The Apple iPhone will be available in June exclusively on Cingular in the U.S.
The iPhone comes in 8GB and 4GB memory configurations.
You can buy the iPhone starting in June from Cingular or Apple stores.
The 4GB iPhone sells for $499 with a 2 year contract. The 8GB iPhone is priced at $599.
This is not cheap, but if you consider that it is a iPod video wihth 8GB storeage with 3.5 inch wide-screen paired with a tiny Apple computer that runs Safari browser, push email and more, the price is very reasonable. Not to mention that there is nothing like the Apple iPhone on the market. The new UI is just amazing and it is only 11.6mm thin. Plus the details, like music fading out when call comes in - this is Apple.
Hey, I am raving and Apple did not even send me a free iPhone.

New Aliph Jawbone with Noise Shield Available from Cingular
Aliph announces that their new version of the Jawbone bone-conducting Bluetooth headset with Noise Shield Technology is available exclusively from Cingular Wireless still in time for the holidays.
The active noise cancellation technology used in the new Jawbone has been originally developed for the military. Aliph's Bluetooth headset separates your speech from the background noise and is therefore able to isolate only your words and reduce the background noise.
Walter Mossberg from the Wallstreet Journal already got his ears on the new Jawbone and published a rather positive review. Only in windy conditions the Jawbone Noise Shield fails.

Cingular 8525 Review
Cingular offers the sliding 8525 Windows Pocket PC. Laptop magazine published a review of this interesting Pocket PC with QWERTY keyboard and HSDPA support.
Quote from the review:
"Over a couple weeks of testing, the 8525 averaged very good throughput of 872 Kbps using the HSDPA connection. When we were within HSDPA coverage, most Web pages loaded within 10 to 15 seconds.
But that wait more than tripled when we were out of HSDPA range and the device fell back to Cingular’s pokey EDGE network. This happened just 30 minutes south of Manhattan.

Cingular 8825 to Launch in Early November?
It seems that the Cingular 8825, known in other parts as the HTC Hermes, is set for release late in October or early November. Being that it is currently late in October, perhaps we can expect this cool phone any time now.
The cool features to float your geek boat are; Windows Mobile 5.0, tri-band UMTS/HSDPA, push email and more. The display is a 2.8” LCD that looks positively gigantic compared to some phones on the market. Read more

Cingular To Charge People Who Have Old Phones
If you've got Cingular and are still talking on that fancy brick-style 1980's cell phone, you may end up paying an extra fee each month. It's all part of a move for Cingular to try to get their customers to upgrade their phones so that they're all on GSM service. Older phones use either an analog signal or the antiquated TDMA technology.
At $5 per month, with millions of customers affected, Cingular's going to be pocketing $23.5 million a month just from this fee. Obviously people with phones old enough to be impacted probably can't afford to upgrade. It's kind of like taxing the poor, isn't it?

Cingular Sues Sprint To Combat Own Legal Problems
Cingular announced Friday that it is suing rival wireless network Sprint over its avertising claim that Sprint is the most powerful network. This is easily seen as just an act of revenge over the fact that Sprint recently filed suit alleging that Cingular's "fewest dropped calls" claim is misleading.
Cingular became under fire recently when the Boston Globe published an article about the questionable claim by Cingular, which may be what sparked Sprint to file its suit.

iPAQ hw6515 Coming To Cingular with Rebate
Dave's iPAQ found a rebate flyer from Cingular listing the HP iPAQ hw6515 and HP iPAQ hw6510 with $50 rebate.
The iPAQ hw6515 mobile messenger is also made by HTC (apparently the only company able to make Windows Smartphones on the planet).
It looks like the iPAQ hw6515 has a bit of a spotty availability. msmobiles reports that the HP smartphone was on sale in Germany, but now its discontinued. HP also only features the hw6515 only on its European site and not in the United States yet.
When exactly the new HP smartphones will be available from Cingular is not clear yet. But it looks like it will be soon.
More details on Dave's iPAQ.

"Freedom. That's what separates the Sony VAIO VGN-T350P from the ultraportable pack. This tiny three-pounder is the first notebook to feature a built-in EDGE cellular modem, which means you can connect whenever and wherever you want in the U.S. at speeds up to 160 Kbps.
In our tests, the T350P delivered good enough performance for those want to check e-mail and surf the Web on the go. "

Sony announces VAIO T-Series with Cingular EDGE Built-in
Sony partners with Cingular to offer notebooks from its ultra-portable T-series with built-in wireless wide area network capability (WWAN).
The Sony T-Series was introduced last September. The new Sony VAIO VGN-T350P/L and VGN-T-350/L have now built-in SmartWi, that lets users switch from Wi-Fi connectivity to Cingular EDGE connectivity. The Pentium M powered Sonys feature also Bluetooth, DVD writer, 60GB HDD, 512MB RAM and a 10.6" WXGA screen with XBRITE.
The difference between the Sony VAIO VGN-T350P/L and Sony VAIO VGN-T-350/L seems only to be that the P/L has Windows XP Professional installed and the /L only the Home edition.
VAIO T-Series notebooks with a midnight blue chassis will be widely available in June starting at about $2,200. Silver and burgundy color options will be exclusively sold on SonyStyle.
More details in Sony press-release.
