Since Circuit City has announced that it is closing all of its stores, the electronics giant has been selling off its entire remaining inventory at reduced prices. I mentioned in January that the discounts on items like TVs were growing.
According to Circuit City so far in its closing sales over $1 billion in goods have been sold. The total inventory that was sitting in stores and warehouses when the liquidation sales started was $1.7 billion. That means that there is a good amount of stuff still left to move at this point. Circuit City rumored to close 155 Stores
Rather solid rumors indicate that Circuit City will announce today the closing of 155 stores. Apparently most stores affected are in the Midwest. Update: Circuit City officially announces the closing of 155 Stores.
The closing of these stores is not supposed to mean that Circuit City is in serious trouble. The electronics retailer is just getting rid of underperforming stores. Why this step is happening just weeks before Black Friday is a bit weird.

Circuit City Survey Finds what Dad’s Want for Father’s Day
Circuit City has conducted a survey of dads to find out what exactly they want for Father’s Day. I am here to tell you that a tie or coffee cup doesn’t make the list. The survey said that 75% of dads feel a GPS would make the quality of a family road trip better.
The survey showed that 30% of dads thought a portable DVD player was important, 27% thought laptops were important, 24% said MP3 players, 23% said handheld games and 20% said upgraded car stereos. I guess we can assume the items ranked as important are the items dads want as gifts. Read more
