What is known so far is that the 6MP Coolpix S6 has built-in 802.11b/g wireless connectivity. The shape is close to the Coolpix S1.

Nikon has with the Coolpix S4 a cool compact 6MP digital camera on the market.

The Nikon Coolpix S4 has the twisting lens design that enabled Nikon to incorporate a 10x Optical Zoom. Other features include a 2.5 inch screen, 16 scene modes and USB 2.0. The S4 measures 112x69x37mm.

Amazon.com has the Nikon Coolpix S4 on sale for $349.94.

Nikon Coolpix S3 Compared to Sony DSC-N1

LetsGoDigital has a hands-on preview of the new Nikon Coolpix S3. In the report they also compare the Coolpix S3 to the new Sony DSC-N1.

For me the winner in the comparison of specifications and features of those two new compact digital cameras is the Sony DSC-N1. The DSC-N1 is only 1cm3 larger in volume, but 5g lighter and of course featuring a higher resolution with 8.1MP, more zoom and a larger LCD screen. Read more

IFA 2005: New Nikon CoolPix S4, S3, P1, P2, L1 and L101

The new digital camera announcements keep pouring in. Now it is Nikon's turn to introduce 6 new CoolPix digital cameras at the IFA 2005.

The Nikon CoolPix S4 (photo) is a new twisting style Nikon ( featuring a 10x optical zoom lens, 6MP, 2.5 inch screen, 16 scene modes and runs on AA batteries. The Nikon CoolPix S4 measures 111.5 x 68.5 x 37mm.
10x zoom in a rather compact format definitely makes the Nikon CoolPix S4 very attractive.

New Nikon Coolpix S2

Nikon releases a the Nikon S2 that has obvious design similarities with the Sony DSC-T7 - just look at the sliding lens cover.

The 5MP Nikon S2 is splash-proof and measures 22mm in thickness (not beating the DSC-T7). The new slim Nikon digital camera features a 2.5 inch LCD screen. The S2 has the same camera specification as the Nikon S1. The difference is the design, higher weight and that it is splash-proof. The Coolpix S2 should come this spring with a $449.95 pricetag. The Nikon Coolpix S1 sells for $379.95 right now.

Nikon COOLPIX S1 5MP - Sony DSC-T Series Competitor

Camborg reports about the new Nikon COOLPIX S1 5.1MP thin digital camera.

The COOLPIX S1 measures 89.9 x 57.5 x 19.7mm. The new Sony DSC-T7 is about half as thin as the S1, but anyway nice try from Nikon. S1 features include 2.5 inch LCD screen, 17 scene modes, 200 photos per battery charge, 3x Zoom-Nikkor ED lens and 12MB internal storage.

The Nikon COOLPIX S1 is supposed to be available in stores in April for about $380.

The new Nikon Coolpix 4800 is a fast 4.0 megapixel digital camera with a compact 8.3x optical Zoom-Nikkor ED glass lens that provides its user with a zoom range of 36-300mm (35mm equivalent).
The Nikon Coolpix 4800 weighs in at only 9oz and sports a 1.8-inch LCD monitor.

New Nikon 8700 Coolpix 8MP Digital Camera

Nikon introduces 8 Mega Pixel Digital Camera for semi-professional consumer market. We reported about the new Sony 8MP DSC-828, which is available for pre-order.

The Nikon Coolpix 8700 () incorporates an 8.0 effective megapixel CCD, which produces image sizes of up to 3,264 x 2,448-pixels for prints larger than 20x30-inches. The camera also employs an 8x Optical Zoom-Nikkor lens, with Nikon's own Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass, designed to get the photographer close to the subject without sacrificing image quality, color representation or sharpness.
Nikon has employed the highest resolution (238,000 pixel) electronic viewfinder (EVF).

The Nikon Coolpix 8700 will be available at retail in March 2004 at an MSRP of $999.95.
