Texas Insturments Produces First Wide UXGA DLP Chip
Texas Instruments has introduced the first WUXGA DLP chip for use in projectors that can produce images at a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 at 16:10 aspect ratio. This is the same screen resolution commonly seen on 24-inch LCDs.
The projector runs on the DLP .95 chip and is the first to offer the 1920 x 1200 resolution. "While 1080p has been widely regarded as the top shelf standard for resolution quality and use for video-centric applications like HDTVs, we recognized that select businesses could stand to benefit more with pixel qualities that surpassed even that of 1080," said Anders Lokke, International Marketing & Communications Manager at projectiondesign. "WUXGA is incorporated inside our F10 WUXGA and F30 WUXGA projectors. This was something that our high-end visualization and simulation customers were asking for and we are proud to be the first to introduce and to deliver it to the market." Read more

CES 2007: Viewsonic PJ503D DLP Projector for the Masses
Some of the coolest items that I have seen at today’s CES show were from Viewsonic. Viewsonic is a popular maker of LCD displays and TVs and what you might not think of Viewsonic for are projectors. Today I was able to see several new projectors from Viewsonic that should make a big impact on the market.
The most interesting projector was called the PJ503D. This projector has 1500 lumens of brightness, 800 x 600 SVGA resolution, uses DLP technology and sports a throw distance of 60 – 236 inches. Those specs may make you wonder why exactly I was so impressed by the projector; all this has been seen and done for a long time. What hasn’t been seen or done with a projector of this type is a price point of $399 all day every day. Read more

RCA HD61LPW175 61 Inch DLP TV Review
DLP projection TVs are still a lower cost option for large screen TVs. Digital Trends reviewed the 61 inch RCA HD61LPW175.
Quote:
"The feature set of the HD61LPW175 covers the basics with CableCard and one HDMI jack. The HDMI input is one of five total inputs, including three back panel jacks (two component/S-Video and one composite) and a side-mounted composite A/V set. A side-mount mini headphone jack is included too.
The side-mount input is convenient for plugging in game players and camcorders but it’s composite only, which won’t do much good for DV camcorder users or PS2 players who want to get the most out of their hardware. At the least, S-Video and USB jacks would be nice adds."

Cinego D-1000 DLP Projector with DVD Player Ships
Radioshack is selling the Cinego D-1000 that appeared first at the CES 2005.
The Cinego is DLP home theater projector with built-in DVD Player and 2.1 sound system.
The Cinego D-1000 can project video with a size of 140 inch and up to 11 feet distance. The supported resolution is 854x480 pixels. Contrast ratio is 1500:1. ANSI lumens are only 550, which means only usable when in a dark room.
The stereo speakers are built into the projector, the subwoofer is extra.
The integration is very interesting and sounds convinient. It would be interesting to know how loud the fans are. I4U reader Terry D. emailed us saying that If you want to pay attention to it, you can hear the fans. He has not watched a movie with very silent passages but he think that people would ignore the fan noise. When you watch LOTR, fan noise is certainly not an issue. The noise elevates during a 3 minute cooling off period during shutdown.
RadioShack is exclusively selling the Cinego D-1000 for $1,299.99. Compare Prices on DLP Projectors.

RCA HDLP50W151 DLP HDTV Review
DesignTechnica reviews the RCA HDLP50W151 DLP HDTV (Buy Now - lowest price right now: $2337.77).
Quote:
"To sum it up, the RCA Scenium HDLP50W151 is an excellent display device that is very attractive and reasonably priced for an integrated HDTV set. At a suggested retail price of $3,999 (probably less than $3,500 street), it offers new DLP display technology featuring integrated HDTV tuning. It’s also housed in an attractive cabinet that can easily fit sit onto a base with storage, or can be placed into a wall unit.
It has all of the right connections presently needed for any upscale Home Theater and then some. Since it includes 2-way 1394, the set can easily be tethered to an HD-level DVHS VCR or HD PVR (such as RCA’s new DVR10) for the recording of pristine HD images. The HDLP50W151 (or its identical, but larger 61-in. sibling – HDLP61W151) is strongly recommended for repeated viewings."

Samsung HLN617W 61inch DLP Projection TV Review
DesignTechnica reviews the Samsung HLN617W 61" inch DLP Projection TV ().
Quote:
"Simply put, the Samsung HLN617V 61" DLP TV is a stunning. The image
quality is second to none, it has enough inputs for most power users, and
performs excellently for gaming and movie viewing.
While some people may experience the "rainbow effect", we have yet to meet
someone that actually notices it. There is no blurring or ghosting, like LCD
rear projection units, and PS2/Xbox/PC games look amazing. When you don't
want to pay over $10,000 for a plasma display of equivalent size, the 61"
Samsung DLP will satisfy even the most demanding videophiles.
Low resolution programming and games that do not run in at least 480p look
exceptionally poor. If you think this is the TV for you, make sure you match
it with high quality, high definition sources. The picture is so sharp,
you'll never be able to go back to a standard definition picture ever."
Full Review.
