Canon targets with the 50D advanced amateur photographers who blur the line between the hobbyist and the professional.
Canon is taking steps to give advanced amateurs more flexibility with a new "CA" Creative Full Auto setting on the EOS 50D Digital SLR camera's mode dial. This new setting goes a step beyond Full Auto, by allowing users to make adjustments before shooting while still in an Automatic mode, without needing to know the meaning of technical terms such as aperture, shutter speed, etc. Read more

Quote from the review: "I feel Live View as implemented by other makers (Canon, Nikon, Olympus et al) is a joke. To work properly, the camera has to be held steady by a tripod and the subject must remain still. How many people shoot like this in 2008—beyond eBay Power Sellers? Six, 16, 60? Sony felt the same way and decided to create a Live View for the rest of the world. Read more

Nikon D40x DSLR Camera Review

Topic:

Nikon D40x DSLR Camera Review Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review PhotographyBlog posted a review of the Nikon D40x digital SLR camera.

Quote from the review: "Announced just four months after its predecessor, the Nikon D40x DSLR camera is virtually identical to the D40, except for one important factor - it has a 10.2 megapixel senor taken directly from the D80, rather than the 6 megapixels that the D40 offered. The sensor change means that the ISO range now starts at ISO 100, going all the way up to ISO 3200. The D40x also borrows the shutter mechanism from the more expensive D80, which results in a slightly faster continuous shooting speed of 3fsp (2.5fps on the older D40), but also a slower flash sync speed (1/200 on the D40x, 1/500 on the D40). Sensor Scope Helps Clean Your DSLR Camera

Topic:

Sensor Scope Helps Clean Your DSLR Camera Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review If you shoot pics with a digital SLR camera and change lens frequently you know how easy it is to get dirt and debris onto the CCD of your camera. If the CCD is not cleaned the dirt and debris will show up in your pictures.

Nikon D40 DSLR Review

Topic:

Nikon D40 DSLR Review Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Our review partner Digital Trends reviews the Nikon D40 SLR camera.

Quote from the review:
"Nothing surprising here. The all-black D40 looks like every other D-SLR out there other than the Nikon logo just below the auto pop-up flash. Anyone looking for something special design-wise won’t find it here. Utilitarian is the best descriptor. This camera is rather lightweight, tipping the scales at 27.4 ounces including supplied lens, battery, strap and card. Surprisingly, the Canon XTi feels much more substantial even though it only weighs an ounce more. And it weighs four ounces less than the D80; Nikon had to strip some features in order to hit the sub-$600 price for this “Made In Thailand” camera.
Simply put: it does not have the feel or build of other D-SLRs recently reviewed such as the Canon Digital Rebel XTi, Sony alpha or Pentax K10D.

Pentax K10D 10.2MP DSLR Review

Topic:

Pentax K10D 10.2MP DSLR Review Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review I4U's review partner Digital Trends published a review of the Pentax K10D 10.2MP DSLR camera.

Quote from this DSLR camera review:
"This is a much-anticipated digital SLR. Not only does this new Pentax have a 10.2-megapixel CCD, it also has built-in Shake Reduction and a cleaning system to keep dust off the imaging device (and your prints). It’s also built to take a bit of beating since it’s weather resistant and has tight seals to keep dust out of the body. Not only that, it costs less than $1,000 with a lens, a very reasonable price but above the Sony alpha which has similar features (10MP CCD, image stabilization) but not nearly as rugged a body. It’s also more affordable than the 10MP Nikon D80 ($999, body only) that doesn’t have shake reduction.

I was pretty excited taking this one out the box and couldn’t wait for the battery to charge. After sitting around for a few hours (no, we weren’t as bad as Southpark’s Eric Cartman waiting for the introduction of the Nintendo Wii) it was time to see how this new D-SLR performed. "
