Averatec All-in-One desktop PC Launches
All-in-one computers are nice for some users. Systems like that get you a monitor and all the other components of a computer stuffed inside the same space a LCD typically takes up. Apple does pretty well with its iMac all-in-one line and today Averatec announced that it has a new All-in-One PC that is available.
The Averatec All-In-One PC has a 22-inch LCD with a 320GB HDD, slot loading optical drive, and has a built-in HDTV tuner. The computer runs on Windows Vista Home Premium and uses an Intel Core 2 duo CPU and graphics are via an NVIDIA GeForce 8400 discrete graphics card. The system has 2GB of RAM total. Read more

eMachines Launches Three Desktop Computers
eMachines announced three new computer systems today with low price tags aimed at students going back to school. The eMachines T3656 is the lowest priced of the three new systems with a MSRP of only $299.99. the machine runs on an Intel Celeron, had 1GB or memory and a 160GB HDD.
The T5247 desktop will sell for $399.99 and uses an Intel Dual-core processor and 2GB of DDR2 RAM. Storage capacity for the machine is 320GB. Also being offered is a complete system called the W3653 that includes a computer running an Intel Celeron Dual-Core and 1GB of DDR2 RAM with a 320Gb HDD. This system also includes a 17-inch widescreen LCD. The W3653 will retail for $498. Read more

Gateway Announces New Notebook and Desktop Computers
Gateway has announced new notebook and desktop computer lines for back to school. The new systems are available now from Gateway and from retail stores for prices ranging from $549.99 to $1149.99.
Three new notebook lines are being launched with a P-Series desktop replacement with a 17-inch screen, the M-Series is an all-purpose system with a 15.4-inch screen, and the T-Series is a thin-and-light with a 14.1-inch screen. Read more

New Voodoo Desktop and Notebook Announced
HP’s Voodoo gaming line added a couple new products to its line with a new Omen gaming desktop and a new ultra-mobile notebook called the Envy 133. The new Voodoo Omen will initially be an invitation only system sent to users who have purchased Voodoo machines before. Full availability will be later in the summer.
The starting price for the very customizable Omen is a whopping $7000 and includes a 7-inch auxiliary display, liquid cooling, top loading cables, interior lighting and more. The Envy 133 will retail for $2099 and uses a 13.3” LCD. The keyboard is backlit and the touch pad recognizes gestures. Read more

Alienware Area-51 ALX Desktop Updated
Alienware announced today that it has updated its Area-51 ALX desktop and is re-launching the line. The new ALX desktop is now available with quad graphics and a CPU overclocked to 4GHz. The Intel QX9770 processor is normally clocked at 3.2GHz.
According to Alienware 4GHz is the maximum stable frequency for the processor and the CPU is liquid cooled by the ALX high-performance liquid cooling. Graphics options for the machine include NVIDIA quad SLI with a pair of 9800 GX2 video cards or ATI CrossFireX with Radeon HD 3870 X2 cards. The system has 4GB of Corsair Dominator DDR3 running at 1600MHz. Read more

Gateway Introduces New Desktop PCs
Gateway announced several new desktop computers this week, some of them have factory overclocked processors and one offers Windows XP. Gateway says that it has increased the performance of its value FX desktop the FX7026. The machine has an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300, overclocked NVIDIA 8800 GT graphics and 4GB of RAM along with 640GB of storage.
Gateway also introduced several new models in its GT series including the GT5670, GT5674, GT5676, and the GT5678. Prices for these systems range from $549.99 to $849.99. The machines use AMD Phenom quad or triple-core processors. The FX7026 will retail starting at $1099. Read more

Dell Introduces the XPS 730 H2C Gaming Desktop
Dell announced its latest XPS desktop gaming machine today and it is a doosey. The XPS 730 H2C edition offers support for quad-core processors, quad GPU graphics and up to four hard drives. Both air cooled and liquid cooled versions are available.
The air-cooler XPS 730 starts at $3,999 and the 730 H2C starts at $4,999. The heart of both systems is the NVIDIA 790i Ultra SLI mainboard. RAM is corsair Dominator DDR3 and optional factory overclocked Intel Core 2 Extreme processors are available. Read more

Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 7000 Review
Today we are looking at the latest wireless mouse and keyboard desktop set from Microsoft. The set is called the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 7000 and features an Aero-esq design.

Red Hat does not plan Linux for Consumer Desktops
Red Hat published an update on its strategy for Linux on the Desktop. Red Hat has no plans to create a traditional desktop product for the consumer market in the foreseeable future.
Red Hat is instead focusing on Desktop and client applications for business use to complement their main Linux server business.

eMachines Launches T5254 and T3646 desktop PCs
For the vast majority of computer users out there a quad-core processor and 4 GB of RAM are simply not needed. For many users the most a computer is used for is surfing the net, checking email and chatting with friends. Any computer can do that and what this sort of computer user needs is a cheap computer.

New LG X-R700 and X-S900 Desktop Replacements
LG introduces the X-R700 and X-S900 Desktop replacement notebooks in Korea.
The LG X-R700 features a 17 inch screen and the 8600M GT Nvidia GeForce with 512MB RAM graphics card. Other features of the LG X-R700 include 3G RAM, 250GB HDD, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5550 and integrated 1.3MP camera. The price of the X-R700 is 1,699,000 WON (~$1,740).

Asus EP20 EEE Desktop PC
Back in November 2007 we reported that Asus was planning to expand the Asus EEE line to include Desktop PCs. One of these was actually on display at the CeBIT 2008.
The Asus EP20 has the size and also some similarity to the already announced Asus Nova P22.

Microsoft Announces Wireless Laser Desktop 7000
Microsoft announced its latest wireless desktop today called the Wireless Laser Desktop 7000. Microsoft says that the new desktop is designed to complement the Windows Vista operating system with its design.
The keyboard is an ultrathin Comfort Curve design with a rechargeable mouse for performance and comfort, the Aero-inspired keyboard uses a translucent design to mimic the Windows Aero interface. Floating hot keys are available on the keyboard as well as one-touch Flip 3D access. Read more

Alienware Area-51 ALX CFX Desktop
Alienware announced a new version of its high performance Area-51 ALX desktop today that supports ATI’s recently announced CrossFireX. The ALX CrossFireX system uses a pair of ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics cards.

Dell Launches XPS 630 Gaming Desktop
Dell launched its latest XPS gaming desktop today called the XPS 630. The XPS 630 starts at $1249 and will be available starting February 27th via the Dell website. Dell says that the XPS 630 is designed around standard components and uses a standard ATX chassis.
This will allow for gamers to upgrade their systems as time goes by and their needs change. The system is ready for both ATI Crossfire and NVIDIA SLI. Dell also includes an application from the control panel that will allow for overclocking of the CPU. Read more

Intel Announces Intel Dual Socket Extreme Desktop Platform
Intel officially announced the performance PC platform dubbed Skulltrail today with the new moniker Intel Dual socket Extreme Desktop Platform. This new mainboard supports dual quad core processors and a choice of multiple graphics setups from NVIDIA or ATI.

NEC Adds New Desktop LCDs
NEC announced new additions to its AccuSync line of desktop computer LCD displays today. The new additions include the 17-inch ASLCD174WMX, 19-inch ASLCD194WMX and the 22-inch ASLCD224WMX.
"The new AccuSync wide-screen products continue to deliver the quality of the NEC brand while remaining price competitive," said Andrew Anderson, Product Manager for NEC Display Solutions. NEC Launches New 3-Series Desktop LCDs
NEC launched a new series of LCD displays called the AccuSync 3-Series. The series includes the 17-inch ASLCD73VX, ASLCD73VX-BK, and the multimedia ASLCD73VXM-BK, as well as the 19-inch ASLCD93VX-BK and the multimedia ASLCD93VXM-BK.
The series has 17-inch and 19-inch screen sizes and shares some of the same features. The native resolution for the series is 1280x1024 and the brightness is 300 cd/m2. The 17-inch screens have a 700:1 contrast ratio. Read more
