The NY Times cites music label executives as sources.

With 3G support downloading songs is technically no problem. Apparently the music labels like to charge more money for a song that is downloaded OTA. The labels try to get Apple to allow different pricing on tracks. Read more

HELSINKI (Reuters) - Offering unlimited music downloads to phone buyers will be a profitable business for Nokia as well as for record labels, the handset maker said, dismissing talk the move would come at the expense of profits.

"We expect to make money both from our traditional device sales, as well as from the 'Comes With Music' service," said Liz Schimel, head of Nokia's music business.

The downloadable content is called “Bringing Down the Sky” and is the first in a planned series of downloads to expand the Mass Effect story and universe.

The download includes a new uncharted world and introduces the Batarian alien race. The download adds about 90 minutes of new gameplay and a new original sound track. The coolest part is that the download will be free to registered members of the BioWare community. Read more
