Windows 7 Sales Eclipse Vista By 234%

If you ever needed more proof of how awful an operating system Vista was, this is it. The NPD group has just sent out a press release stating that the first few days of Windows 7 sales have been 234% higher than the first few days of Vista sales were. Revenue was also much improved. Total dollar sales are up 82% from Vista to Win 7. The reason for the disparity between sales growth and actual revenue growth is being attributed to the early discounts on pre-sales and Microsoft's failure to heavily promote the Ultimate edition of 7.

I've been using Windows 7 for the last two weeks and, I have to say, it's a solid OS. That said, I think these numbers owe more to the piss-poor nature of Windows Vista than they do to the strengths of Windows 7. I'm beginning to wonder if Microsoft's grand strategy might be to release awful operating systems in order to make their decent releases seem exceptional. But that's probably crazy-talk. Probably.

Laser Based Anti-Paparazzi Shield Installed on Abramovich's New Yacht Eclipse

Russian Oligarch Roman Abramovich has installed a laser based anti-paparazzi shield on his new record breaking mega yacht - the Eclipse.
The exact size of the Eclipse is not known yet, but it is supposed to be the largest private yacht of all time. Besides tons of high tech features the anti-paparazzi shield is possibly the most unique one.

The Times reports that infrared lasers detect the electronic light sensors in nearby cameras (CCDs). When the anti-paparazzi shield detects a camera it sends a light beam at the camera, making it impossible to take a photo. Read more

CH Products Offers Up CH Eclipse Flight Yoke

CH Products has announced it is showing its new CH Eclipse flight yoke at E for All in LA. The Eclipse is built with the same components that are used in industrial controllers. The Eclipse has programmable paddles for flight and racing sims, programmable trim and scroll wheels with push button centers.

2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder surprisingly good looking

I just stumbled over the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder Roadster and I am quite impressed by it's looks.

I am almost tempted to say that the 2008 Eclipse Spyder is sexier than the BMW Z4. Nothing can touch the already classic Z3 of course in the affordable roadster segment. Read more

Eclipse 500 Very Light Jet is big Winner of 2007 IDEA Awards

The results of the 2007 International Design Excellence Awards (2007 IDEA Awards) have been announced. The awards, sponsored by BusinessWeek, are presented by the Industrial Designers Society of America.

The big winner is the Eclipse 500 Very Light Jet by design firm IDEO and Eclipse Aviation. The Eclipse jet won in IDEA's research, interaction design, and transportation categories.

Eclipse Phone Takes Minimalist Approach

The Eclipse is one really cool looking phone, even if it is a mere concept right now. I use a Razer and for all the things it can do about all I use it for is to place calls. If this Eclipse phone at least offers Bluetooth (that is assuming it ever gets made at all) I would use it.

The phone sports a sliding LCD screen that tucks into the phone body when not in use. The LCD is black and white as well, who needs that fancy pants color crap? One day when phone web browsing doesn’t suck I might feel differently about all the extras on my phone, but for today I just don't use them. Read more

LG L1900 Eclipse LCD has Hided Light

LG is introducing a series of LCD displays called the L1900 sporting some odd bases, and even stranger prose in the product descriptions. You would think a manufacturer as large as LG could hire some native English speakers to be sure that their marketing talk makes at least a little bit of sense.

These displays have the same specifications, and only vary in how the base looks. All three have a 2000:1 digital fine contrast ratio, use LG’s fEngine and sport 4ms response times. Read more

You sure know Eclipse (a Fujitsu Ten Company) for its space age speakers. Eclipse announced this February a cool looking new CD/MD audio system for cars on the Japanese market.

Japanese Gadget exporter AudioCubes is selling the Eclipse E3306CMT world-wide for $449.

The Eclipse E3306CMT features a MOS-FET 50W×4ch amplifier and a 20Hz - 20kHz frequency characteristic for CD and MD playback. FM and AM Tuner are also part of the feature set.
