Apple iPhone appears on major Electronics Retailer in Germany
I am a bit baffled by this news. Media Markt a major electronics retailer in Germany that belongs to the Metro Group has elaborate advertising for the Apple iPhone on its site.
Under the tagline "Touching is Believing" Media Markt shows the main features of the iPhone. The description says that the sale starts end of this year.
What is baffling me is that Media Markt seems to be sure that they will be selling the iPhone in their stores. They do already sell mobile phones from different carriers.

Britain Bans Standby Buttons For Electronics
File this one under laws you just would never have even thought of. In Britain, it's now against the law (or at least they are making stern assertions against) to have a "standby" button on an electronic device. Devices left in this idle mode reportedly account for 8% of the country's entire energy consumption.
So, you lucky Brits, you'll now have to completely boot up your DVD player, set-top box gaming devices, and I guess even your computer, when you want to use it. Though, I'm guessing that if you already own a device with a standby button, Tony Blair's not going to come knocking down your door to confiscate it.
