Cisco FlipShare TV Appears On FCC
A new Flip branded device was uncovered in the FCC database by ZatzNotFunny. The Cisco FlipShare TV can transmit video recorded with Flip camcorders stored on a PC to a TV wirelessly.
I assume the FlipShare TV will work with other media formats as well. If not it would not really be an interesting device. On the other hand Flip camcorders come with the Flipshare software to organize videos.

FCC Approves TomTom iPhone Car Kit
The TomTom iPhone car kit hasn't been released quite yet, but it's apparently just passed FCC inspection (thanks, Engadget!). The inspection has revealed a couple of interesting facts that we didn't know before. In addition to possessing its own GPS, the car kit also has Bluetooth capability in order to allow hands-free calling while on the road.
This means that the TomTom mount is a charger and a dock with Bluetooth enabled and a SiRFstar GPS chipset for greater accuracy than the iPhone alone can provide. The FCC report has some sections of the manual saved, and also gives up some shots of the device itself. According to the manual, the dock will be able to attach to the windshield, or side window. It also has an adhesive disk so that you can stick it to your dashboard.

Samsung Galaxy Lite: FCC Approved
The Samsung I7500 Galaxy is one of the hottest Android smartphones out on the market right now. Unfortunately, right now it's still only available in Europe (coming soon to the UK!), and those of us across the pond might have to wait a long while before we get one. On the plus side, the I7500's cheaper little brother could be coming here shortly. According to Samsung Hub the Samsung GT-I5700 has just been approved by the FCC.
The GT-I5700 is also known as the Samsung Galaxy Lite. It is a budget version of the I7500, and it will come with WiFi capability and support GSM bands. Other than that, we don't know what features it will have or what it will share with the I7500. Personally, I'm hoping the Galaxy Lite still packs the OLED screen of the Galaxy.

FCC Investigates Apple Nixing Google Voice
Another page has been written in the epic saga of Google Voice and its iPhone troubles. Now the FCC is investigating Apple for cutting the app, as well as several 3rd party Voice apps, from its online store. The Federal Communications Commission sent letters to Apple, AT&T, and Google looking for information on the whole conflict.
Specifically the FCC wanted to know exactly why Apple rejected the app and removed the related applications. They also wanted to know what, if any role, AT&T had on the decision. Apple, whose App Store policies have been wondered at but never formally questioned, was asked to give an accounting of exactly what the approval process involves. The FCC asked for the percentage of rejected apps, and the major reasons that an app gets nixed.

Asus Eee 1004DN Hits FCC
Back at CES 2009 we ran across the Asus Eee 1004DN netbook. Asus had said that it didn’t know if the machine would be sold in the US or stick to the European markets.
The unit has a 10-inch LCD, 1GB of RAM, Webcam, and runs Windows XP. The most interesting part of the machine was that it was among the first netbooks using the Atom N280 to be seen. It appears that Asus is getting ready to launch the machine here in the US. Read more

The FCC outlined a plan this year that would auction off a portion of wireless spectrum that would include the stipulation that a portion of that spectrum be used to provide free nationwide wireless Internet access to Americans. M2Z networks responded today to the letter sent from the Bush Administration to the FCC calling on the FCC to move forward on the planned vote set for December 18th to determine the fate of free nationwide Internet. Fuld & Company, a market research firm, released a report today that says the rollout of services on the 700MHz frequency currently under bidding with the FCC will be slow. According to the study even with the huge amounts of money being spent to get the frequency spectrum, the near term technology advances will be small.
