The N900 Delayed: Sorry Nokia Fans

Topic:

The N900 Delayed: Sorry Nokia Fans Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Good things are worth waiting for. Just keep that fact in mind if you've been waiting months and months already for the launch of the Nokia N900. While it was initially expected to have an October release, it now looks like we won't get our hands on this sweet little smartphone until November. Reuters (via BGR) reports that Nokia announced a one month delay in the N900's release.

Nokia claims that this delay is due to the fact that they are still waiting for feedback from developers. While annoying to anyone planning to pick up this highly-anticipated smartphone, I think the delay represents a good sign. Nokia knows that the N900 is the future of their company. They may still be the #1 cell phone manufacturer in the world, but their hold on the market slips a little more every quarter. If more time in development will make the N900 a more competitive phone, then that time will be well spent.

Left4Dead Fans Boycott Sequel

Topic:

Left4Dead Fans Boycott Sequel Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Hell hath no fury like a gamer scorned. Earlier this week at Microsoft's E3 press conference it was announced that Valve was working on a sequel to the bestselling zombie game Left4Dead. Fans of the original were surprised to hear that Left4Dead 2 was expected to launch on November 17th, barely a year after the first game was released.

Surprisingly, this ticked off a lot of people. Many Valve fans felt that this was a way for the company to brush off Left4Dead and ignore the list of updates and improvements they promised fans when the game was released. In order to protest the sequel and guilt Valve into supporting the original title fans formed the group “Left4Dead 2 Boycott”. They have already gathered 4,500 members.

Wii Fans Denied Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will not be appearing on the Wii, neither as downloadable content or in a retail release, according to a post by a Capcom insider at the Capcom Unity blog.

Last night, Capcom confirmed the game would appear on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network this summer. Responding to complaints from upset Wii fans, Capcom VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development Christian Svenson claimed, “This is a downloadable play, not a retail play. We don't actually have any retail rights on this project. And there's no way to get anywhere near the Wiiware filesize limit here.”

Microsoft Ad featuring a Redhead that gets Mac Fans riled up

Topic:

Microsoft Ad featuring a Redhead that gets Mac Fans riled up Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Microsoft landed their best TV commercial in a while featuring Lauren. The cute redhead (apparently this actress was chosen because Redhead rimes with Redmond) is on a mission to buy a laptop for up to $1,000. She is picky and only wants a 17 inch and cannot find a MacBook for the budget in the Apple Store.
She ends up buying a HP 17 inch notebook for $699.99. The Microsoft ad hits home the fact that Apple computers are expensive and so are BMWs. If you have driven a Beamer and then have to buy a Volkswagen because you cannot afford the nice ride you are not happy. Some say Lauren does not really look happy with her HP Vista Craptop. R2D2 Aquarium is one great Gift for Star Wars and Fish Fans Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Do you know somebody who loves Star Wars and fish? Bingo! The R2D2 Aquarium is the perfect wacky gift for your friend.
This R2-D2 holds a 1 3/4-gallon aquarium tank in his central compartment, ideal for a small freshwater family of goldfish, gouramis, or tetras.

The domed head of the R2D2 aquarium rotates with any vocal command you issue and R2D2 utters his familiar "bleeps" from the Star Wars movies.
His radar eye houses the eyepiece to a built-in periscope (ultra cool!) that provides an intimate view of the aquatic activity below, allowing you to watch your charges swim towards the food you've dropped in from the dome's removable feeding door. Read more

Sony PS3 Fans Not Lining Up Yet in Japan

Topic:

Sony PS3 Fans Not Lining Up Yet in Japan Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review It is now Friday 10th of November 1am in the morning in Japan. The Sony PS3 will be in stores in bit more than 24 hours. There is apparently nobody camping out in front an electronics store - rather unusual.

IGN published today an investigative report on the Sony PS3 situation in Japan. They did not find any lines for the Sony PS3 yet. Reasons for this might be that the supply per store is just ridiculously low. We talk 5 on average. (Kotaku has some details on that). Some stores will do a lottery. They hand out tickets starting Saturday morning.

The fun part in the IGN report is that they found two lines. One was for the Nintendo DS Lite and one was to pre-order the Nintendo Wii. Read more

Topic:

Will March 15th Mark an Important Day for Sony PS3 Fans? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Sony confirmed a business briefing in Japan for tomorrow March 15th to announce something about the PS3.

Update:
Sony PS3 delayed until November 2006

The Sony meeting starts at 3pm Tokyo Time, that is 9 hours from now. It is not clear what Sony will say about their Sony Playstation 3 plans. Some more details can be found in this Reuters report.

I do not think the news will be big enough for me to get up in the middle of the night. So I will see what the story is tomorrow while sipping my morning coffee. Somehow I wish I would spill coffee all over my keyboard reading it, but I am the realistic type - it will not happen. Read more

Sony PS3 Fans need to Buy a Microsoft Xbox 360?

Topic:

Sony PS3 Fans need to Buy a Microsoft Xbox 360? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Based on an analyst report circulating this week that Sony might delay the Sony PS3 launch to 2007 if the Microsoft Xbox 360 is a flop. Continuing this thought one could think this would imply that Sony PS3 fans should buy a Xbox 360 to make sure they get a Sony PS3 in 2006.

My opinion is that it will not be that easy for Sony. The Microsoft Xbox 360 will most likely be a hit. Halo 3 and Xbox Live are just some of the hot arguments for the Xbox 360. More discussions on this topic on Slashdot. Read more
