Algae Bio Fuel Could Be The Future
The New York Times has an interesting article on the efforts to make bio fuel from algae. An Indian tribe called the Southern Ute is actually on the fore front of making algae bio fuel a reality.
Algae are great as a fuel source, as they bind CO2, grow fast and are not a source of food.
The Southern Ute invested into Solix Biofuels and is providing their land in Colorado to build an algae farm.

CES 2009: Husqvarna Automower Solar Hybrid tends the lawn without Fuel
The Husqvarna Automower Solar Hybrid is a fully robotic lawn mower partly powered by the sun and uses no fuel or oil. The company will exhibit this green grass cutting robot at the CES 2009.
The Solar Hybrid mower is designed to handle lawns of up to a half acre. Incorporating solar and battery power, it uses considerably less energy than any conventional mower with its large integrated solar panel and is emissions-free. When there is daylight available, the solar cells enable the mower to extend its cutting periods before requiring a recharge. Lower power consumption and an extended battery life enable a faster, more environmentally improved cut.

MTI Micros Shows Off prototype Fuel Cell Charger
Fuel cells are one of those things that we have heard about for a while now that always seem to be years away from reality. MTI Micro has unveiled a prototype of a fuel cell charger called the Mobion that it hopes to have on the market by the end of 2009. The charger is small and gets power from interchangeable fuel tanks that plug into a larger body.
A USB port is built into the device to allow for charging of anything that connects via USB, which is a lot of stuff these days. One cartridge of fuel promises enough energy to recharge an average cell phone over ten times, enough to power the average phone for a month. The fuel cell is getting closer to being a reality; I just hope the charger itself and the refill cartridges are affordable. Read more
