The patent issued was titled “Position Determination System” and is said to protect its intellectual property for networking applications that request and or push a users GPS location through a wireless network.

The patent features a method of providing real-time position information from one person to another via the mobile phone, land line or a computer network. The method patented also allows for users to exchange location information including address, GPS coordinates, or nearby fixed locations. Read more

The fuel cell is called the Mobion and provides three times as much energy to a GPS device as four AA batteries do.

MTI says that on a large, color screen GPS device that means 60 hours of continuous power. That is enough power for weeks of use not the days of use common with AA batteries. The Mobion GPS prototype also includes a USB port allowing the device to provide power to recharge mobile phones or any other device that can recharge via USB. Read more

Both units share the same features except the 2120 includes U.S. and Canadian maps. The 2120 is only available in Canada at $329 CAD. The 2100 is available in the U.S. only and features only U.S. maps for $299.

Both machines use the same 4.3-inch touchscreen and offer text-to-speech driving directions. Navigon’s RealityView is also included providing a photo-realistic view of complex highway interchanges and Lane Assistant helps drivers get into the correct lane. One key feature for the devices is compatibility with Navigon’s FreshMaps service. The service provides up to 12 map and POI updates over a three year period. Read more
