Business Card Holder for Geeks
I have seen several things made from motherboard over the years from clocks to coasters and none of them have been particularly useful to me. Motherboard Gifts & More has a cool computer themed business card holder that I could use.
The outside cover of the card holder has a chunk of a motherboard on it from a real computer. The case measures 2 ¼” x 3 5/8” and is sized to hold 10-15 normal business cards. Read more

Catapult Watch for the Uber Geek
If you are into weird watches, that do less telling time and more flinging things that could put out an eye, we have the watch for you. The Catapult Watch has (you guessed it) a catapult on it that flings BBs across the room.
The catapult portion looks more like a tiny spoon and it sits right across the watch face obscuring the time quite a bit. I guess I see this thing more for the kids and the really weird guys I see handing out at the mall on the weekend. Read more

Easy-Glider Looks to Knock Segway off as the Geekiest Method of Transport
The Easy-Glider is a new personal transportation device that is looking to take on the Segway in the miniscule geeky transportation device segment. I will say that the Easy-glider looks cool, it reminds me of a robot drawn chariot or rickshaw from Starwars.
The device is electric powered by a 360-watt electric motor with a top speed of 13mph and a range of 10-15 miles. Pricing in Europe is said to be about $1300, which seems a bit steep to me. Read more

Solar Scooter in I'm a Geek Yellow
If riding a bright yellow scooter around town isn’t enough to get you mocked and laughed at try adding a huge pair of solar panels to the side. At first glance, this could be mistaken for the original Russian reentry vehicle for the International Space Station that was scrapped when it was deemed cost prohibitive.
What you actually see here is a scooter designed by a dude that manages a Rite-aid and rides this hog to and from work every day. Once he arrives, he unfolds the solar panels to charge the batteries so his steed is ready for the trip home. Read more

Star Trek Voice Operated Dimmer, a Geeks Clapper
Somewhere out there a Trekkie geek is about to burst a blood vessel. If you like the convenience of a device like the Clapper, but the Clapper just isn’t quite geeky enough for you how about a Star Trek Voice Operated dimmer?
Plug this thing in between your lamp and the out let and you can dim the lights in your room via voice commands straight from the bridge of the Enterprise. Alas it doesn’t appear to recognize anything with the word tachyon in it but you can say “Computer lights to 50%” and have them dim to 50%. Read more

The Only Coasters for the Geeky Guy
There is something inherent in my male DNA that keeps me from using coasters. I don’t know why, even at restaurants I won’t use the little paper coasters they hurl at me Ninja style.
My wife thinks I am just too lazy to use a coaster, it’s not lazy it’s economy of motion… seriously. At any rate, I might actually use this set of coasters that are made from real circuit boards. Each set of six coasters have different patterns and colors and are held inside a tin can topped with a circuit board cut out as well. The coasters measure 3.75” in diameter. Read more

The powder inside the container can expand nearly 100 times its normal size when exposed to water making a snow like substance. While the snow won’t be cold and can’t be made into yummy snow ice cream, the kids will still get a blast out of it. Read more

MetaGeek Wi-Spy 2.4 GHz Spectrum Analyzer Review
The Tech Lounge reviews the USB MetaGeek Wi-Spy 2.4 GHz Spectrum Analyzer.
Quote:
"Do you have a wireless network? Do you have a cordless phone? Do you own a microwave? Most likely your answer to these questions is yes, which means you probably have interference.
The issue at hand is not whether you have interference, but whether its affects are felt. Although most wireless boxes are able to push through the lower amounts of interference, some people, such as those living in apartments or otherwise deluged with many wireless signals may have problems.
It is with this dilemma in mind that the people at MetaGeek created the Wi-Spy spectrum analyzer.
