Golden Shellback Coatings Protect Electronics from Fluids
Right now, you could go down to your local electronics store and probably get your hands on a case for your cellular phone that would protect it from water and other fluids. The catch is that the case would add lots of bulk to your phone and could block some of the ports and controls.
Northeast Maritime Institute has announced the development of a new coating called Golden Shellback Coatings that can prevent electronic devices from being harmed by water, oil, dirt, dust, and other hazardous materials. Read more

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army Review
OCModShop published a review of Hellboy 2: The Golden Army movie.
Quote from the review: "Hollywood is often littered with decisions that in hindsight seem to be utterly insane. For all of the big budgeted films that go on to do huge business, there are films such as Waterworld, Howard The Duck, Hudson Hawk, and countless others that make you scratch your head and wonder who thought they were worth the investment of millions of dollars that were needed to bring them to the big screen.

Alone in the Dark Goes Gold
Alone in the Dark is set to launch on June 24th and today the publisher announced that the game has already gone gold. If the game is half as intriguing as the website that goes along with it, this should make for one action survival game that many gamers will enjoy.
Alone in the Dark is shipping for the Wii, Xbox, PS3, PS2, and PC. The game is based around secrets hidden in Central Park and puts Edward Carnby in the park to survive the night and unlock the secrets. The game really looks cool and would make a great movie. Read more

Golden Clone Contest Gives Away Dog Clone
This has to be the weirdest giveaway in history. A company called BioArts is giving away what they call the golden clone. Basically the sweepstakes is to allow people who tell the company why their dog should be cloned and the winner actually gets a free dog clone.
It all sounds very Pet Cemetery to me. The giveaway is open to anyone in the world and to win entrants must write an essay of approximately 500 words telling BioArts why their pet deserves to be cloned. The deadline to enter for the sweepstakes is June 10th and a photo of the dog must be uploaded. Read more

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures Goes Gold
One of the coolest games that I saw at last year’s E3 Convention was Age of Conan. The game has some of the best graphics around and will be one of the hottest PC games of 2008 when it hits store shelves. Co-publishers Funcom and Eidos have announced that the game has already gone gold.
"Even though it feels like this great adventure is coming to an end, it's really not at all. The launch is just the beginning," says Game Director/Producer Gaute Godager. "I believe we have created a game that will stand the test of time by its own accord, but we are already busy planning future features and expansions. We want to continue expanding Conan's world for many years to come, and we have great ideas on what to do!" Read more

Scrapped Golden Globe Ceremony hits Hollywood hard
By Jill Serjeant
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hollywood scrambled on Tuesday to assess the fallout
from the decision to scrap the glittering Golden Globe movie and TV awards
ceremony and hold only a news conference that few stars are likely to attend.
Caterers, limousine drivers, stylists, hotels and dozens of magazines and TV
shows found themselves out of work when this Sunday's star-studded Golden Globes
gala dinner and red carpet walk-up fell victim to the nine-week-old
screenwriters strike.
"There are a lot of people being hurt by this," said Jack Kyser, chief economist
for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. He estimated the Golden
Globes annually bring in $70-$80 million to the Los Angeles economy.
