HTC Passion/Dragon Spotted?

HTC Passion/Dragon Spotted? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

So HTC's new HD2 is one of the hottest smartphones in the world, at least in terms of hardware. Unfortunately, the handset packs WinMo 6.5, one of the least-liked OSs out on the market right now. That's why fans have been clamoring for an Android-loaded version of the HD2. We may have a little bit of evidence to add to that rumor thanks to Boy Genius.

They've come across a photo of the main screen of an HTC Sense phone running Android. The mobile is believed to be either the HTC Passion or the Dragon, HTC's upcoming Verizon smartphone. This new mobile should have a 5 MP camera and Android 2.0, as well as possibly a Snapdragon processor. Several rumors place the Dragon as basically being a clone of the HD2 with Android.

Topic:

HTC HD2 Coming To US Early 2010, Europe & Asia Now Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Finally. After months of agonized waiting, we have confirmation from HTC themselves that the gorgeous, snapdragon-sporting HD2 will be making its way to the United States. The HD2 launched today in Europe and Taiwan, and HTC confirmed during in their press release that the WinMo 6.5 smartphone will come to the USA in early 2010. No exact date was given, and the carrier hasn't been identified yet, but at least we know the HD2 is coming.

The HD2 is the first Windows Mobile phone to sport the HTC Sense UI. That makes the somewhat underwhelming WinMo 6.5 operating system a much more attractive proposition. While we don't know what carrier the HD2 will launch with over here, some rumors point to T-Mobile.

HTC Eris: $99 From Verizon?

Topic:

HTC Eris: $99 From Verizon? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

The Droid may be the big name in the news right now, but it's far from the only Android smartphone that's making its rounds. The HTC Eris will launch on November 6th under Verizon's Droid brand. According to gdgt (via Android and Me) the Eris will cost just $99 and launch with Android 1.5. It's suspected to be unable to handle 1.6 due to an incompatibility between that update and the HTC Sense UI.

The Eris packs the same 528 MHz processor as the Hero, and comes with a 5 MP camera and touchscreen. It's basically Verizon's answer to the $99 iPhone 3G. There's nothing particularly impressive about this phone, but it is another Android device with some good, if not fantastic, hardware.

HTC CEO Peter Chou Talks HD2, Other Devices Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

With its 4.3” touchscreen and 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, the HD2 is one of the hottest smartphones on the market. The only issue with the handset is that it runs the widely panned WinMo 6.5 OS. Our hopes were raised earlier this week when we heard that an Android version of the HD2 was headed for Verizon. Unfortunately, it now looks like those rumors were untrue.

In an interview with Forbes, HTC CEO Peter Chou stated that "technically, we could make the HD2 an Android phone, but I have to take care of Windows Mobile."

HTC Desire: The 'Sense' UI Is Back

Topic:

HTC Desire: The 'Sense' UI Is Back Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review The Android OS is a lot like herpes; it spreads exponentially. A year ago we had one Android smartphone, and now we've got dozens that have been announced, released, rumored, or leaked. And today, we get to add one more smartphone to that pile; the HTC Desire. Boy Genius has a pic of this beauty in the 'flesh'. While we can tell next to nothing about its hardware from these shots, it does look like a very nice piece of gear.

Anyway, we now have solid information that the Leo is being renamed the HTC Touch HD2 when it comes to T-Mobile Europe in the near future. CoolSmartphone.com (via BGR) has managed to nab some documents that show the HD2 as a new T-Mo handset.
