Sony PSP Homebrewers Achievement Highlights
The Sony PSP homebrew community is not slowing down. Sony tries to stop the movement by releasing new PSP firmware versions with security fixes that make it harder to run homebrew code. But also the latest 2.71 version has been hacked this week by the homebrewers.
Sony PSP homebrewers are not only shining firmware hacks. There are tons of interesting and useful applications and also homebrew Sony PSP accessories available today. Inspired by our Sony PSP Future Feature requests we collected a year ago, I4U reader Original sent us a list of homebrew solutions to several of the features users want on the Sony PSP, but Sony did not deliver themselves yet. See below a list of highlights of homebrew achievements.

Sony PSP Homebrew: Now on PSP Firmware 2.60
We reported about Sony PSP Homebrew coder Fanjita releasing a Tetris game that can be loaded onto Sony PSP with Firmware 2.5 two days ago. Now he made it work on the latest Sony PSP Firmware 2.6.
To load this homebrew game you still need the GTA game to utilize the flaw in the saved game loader. I still think Sony should release a SDK and a loader for homebrew games. This could be another huge reason for people to get a Sony PSP. There are lots of gamers who love those little games or want to run productivity software on the Sony PSP. Sony could keep the UMD discs closed, but open up running homebrew code from the memory stick.

Interview with Sony PSP Homebrew GTA Hack Coder Fanjita
There is a new Sony PSP homebrew code loader through the GTA game save function as we reported a week ago.
PSP Emulation has published an interview with Fanjita, the programmer behind this Sony PSP hack.
Surprising facts from the interview: Sony PSP homebrew coders can be married and have a day-time job.
Quote from the interview:
Q: "What are you currently working on. Anything you care to mention or hint to?"
A: "Right now it's all about fully-exploiting the GTA exploit, so that proper homebrew can be brought to the v2.01 and v2.5 users. I'm hoping to be able to release that as a little Xmas gift, but time is getting a little short now :)
I tried a downgrader, but had to give up because it doesn't seem possible with this exploit.
v2.6 will also be difficult, because the security is getting tighter and tighter, and extracting the info we need to use 2.6 properly is currently very hard."

New Sony PSP Homebrew Hack through GTA Game
A Sony PSP homebrew activist named Fanjita published a Hello World app that runs through the game save function of Grand Theft Auto (GTA).
This homebrew hack is independent of the Firmware installed on the Sony PSP. Earlier homebrew loaders are firmware specific. Only time will tell, if this newly found glitch in GTA is a fruitful avenue for Sony PSP homebrew code.

Door Opened for Homebrew Code on Sony PSP 2.0 Firmware
Many Sony PSP owners who are into running homebrew code are not upgrading their PSP to the recently announced 2.0 Firmware. Now an anonymous programmer found a buffer overflow in the Sony PSP Firmware 2.0 that might one day bring homebrew code to 2.0, unless Sony is filling the hole earlier with a new firmware.
