Hot Weekend Sales available online and in-stores this Weekend

Retailers are trying really hard to jump start the holiday shopping. This weekend lots of sales are happening online and in-stores. Some items on sale already are as low as they will be on Black Friday.
Of course there is always the chance that the retailers will go even lower on the actual Thanksgiving sales weekend. Black Friday Doorbuster deals will for sure be priced lower, but they are hard to get as you have to line up very early. If you want to take the pressure out of your holiday shopping this season then the early holiday sales are a good thing. Read more

The Nintendo DSi is a hot Seller in Japan

Nintendo launched the new Nintendo DSi last weekend and based on the sales numbers of Enterbrain, Nintendo sold about 171,000 DSi in two days.

Nintendo has shipped apparently 200,000 units into the channel across Japan and is adding another 100,000 DSi consoles by the end of this week. Read more

Mobile phone makers Sony Ericsson and Nokia are right now running campaigns featuring models. The campaigns have different underlying concepts but in the end just feature hot models to sell their phones.

Motorola Aura Hands-on Photos

Motorola unveiled the Aura luxury phone with the signature round LCD screen about 10 days ago. Motorola's mobile phone unit is actually restructuring right now and a lot of phone designs get cut. The fact that the Aura still made it into the open is a bit surprising.

As reported earlier Microsoft unveiled the pre-beta of Windows 7 at the PDC 2008 today. Now screen-shots of the Windows 7 user interface got published by Microsoft giving a glimpse on how Microsoft achieves simplicity visually.

Pretty much everything is new. New desktop, new taskbar, new Windows chrome, new gadget support and more. The Windows 7 UI looks visually light and cleaned-up. It could be good if its snappy.

WalkingHotSpot Gives Wi-Fi Access to Users for One-Time Fee

TapRoot Systems announced that its WalkingHotSpot connectivity solution for smartphones is available for direct purchase. The software makes Windows Mobile 6 and S60 3G, Wi-Fi smartphones into walking hot spots. On Windows Mobile Wi-fi sharing is possible with some tweaking. Wi-fi sharing on the iPhone 3G would be a real hot selling app, but I guess Apple and the carriers have something against that.

The service allows users to connect securely for email and web surfing. The application can be purchased for a one time fee of $24.99 for the lifetime of the phone. A monthly service is available for $24.99. Users can get a free 7-day trial. Read more

Wealthy Asians use Phones to blog, take Photos: Study

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - For wealthy Asians, mobile phones and Blackberrys are much more than a way to stay in touch, with a survey finding portable communication devices increasingly being used to watch videos, take pictures and surf the Web.
The Synovate-Pax regional survey of nearly 10,000 respondents across seven countries in Asia showed 56 percent of affluent Asians use their mobile devices every week to take pictures, while more than 30 percent watched video clips.

Tomorrow on Tuesday Apple will reveal new notebooks. Hours before the event two blurry photos of what is supposedly the new MacBook Pro leaked on Engadget.
Why we still see blurry photos with all the image stabilizers out there is beyond me. The new MacBook Pro would feature the black bezel around the screen as already reported about, when unseen MacBook Pro images appeared on German Shop operated by German Telekom in September. Read more

New photos of the cases for the upcoming MacBook and MacBook Pro leaked on a Chinese Mac site. The photos are better quality than the ones leaked last week, but show the same aluminum shells.
There is not that much to learn from these case photos besides that the drive is on the right and ports are to be found on the left side of the new MacBook and MacBook Pro. Read more
