IAA 2009: Renault Twizy Z.E. Concept Electric Car Has Cartoon Look Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review French Renault went a bit overboard with the Renault Twizy Z.E. Concept car. The Twizy looks like it has square wheels, this only works in cartoons.
If you look closer though there is a round wheel hidden behind the square shaped front - I think.
The funny looking Twizy is ultra-compact 1+1 zero-emission city car, with 15kW motor (20hp) and footprint barely larger than a scooter (2.3m long, 1.13m wide and turning circle of 3m). It has a top speed of 47mph, with acceleration comparable to 125cc motorbike. Read more

Audi e-tron Debuts at IAA 2009 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review How about an electric car with four electric motors? Audi unveiled the Audi e-tron at the IAA 2009 with 313hp and an amazing torque of 4,500nm.
The e-tron accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 – 62.14 mph) in 4.8 seconds, and from 60 to 120 km/h (37.28 – 74.56 mph) in 4.1 seconds. The lithium-ion battery provides a truly useable energy content of 42.4 kilowatt hours to enable a range of approximately 248 kilometers.

The e-tron is based on the Audi R8 design and is packed with interesting technologies like the use of a heat pump. Read more

Now images of a new concept car appeared that seem to look like a modern day 2CV. Citroen is celebrating its 90th birthday. So something big to show at the IAA 2009 is the right thing to do. Read more

Besides the new cars like Lamborghini Reventon or Cayenne Hybrid the hot car show hostesses are the reason for the massive audience.

The German newspaper Bild has published a nice photo gallery featuring 32 IAA 2007 Booth models.
The photo above shows the new retro Fiat 500, but who cares about the car. Read more

The Volkswagen Up! is 3,45m long and 1,63m wide and has space for four.

The Reventon is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 with 650hp and 4-wheel drive. Read more

About 2 years ago we reported for the first time about the BMW X6. As you can see when you compare the photos the X6 has changed quite a bit since then. For the better I might say.

The current BMW model portfolio is a bit boring. The X6 would be a very desirable car if it were available today. Read more

The new Porsche Cayenne GTS has a 8-liter V8 and is the first Cayenne to feature the electronically controlled damping system, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), with steel springs. This combination was previously reserved exclusively for Porsche sports cars. Read more

The Opel Flextreme is really very flexible as the name tries to communicate. The car would allow you to store a Segway and charge it - nice touch!

With the lithium batteries the Flextreme has a range of 40 miles. A 1.3l diesel engine is recharging the batteries. They can also be charged by a power outlet (PHEV - plug-in hybrid electric vehicle). Read more

The Citroen C-Cactus is powered by a 70hp HDi Diesel engine and a 30hp electric engine.
The cute car would only need 3.4 l/100km (~69MPG) and the CO2 emissions would be only 78g/km.

Citroen managed to build the C-Cactus from only 200 parts. Comparable models need twice as much usually. Read more

Porsche Cayenne Hybrid at IAA 2007 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Porsche will apparently exhibit their current Porsche Cayenne Hybrid prototype at the IAA 2007 in Frankfurt next month.

Porsche announced that they were working on a Hybrid Cayenne back at the IFA 2005. Porsche uses a parallel concept for their hybrid drive. Currently they use a V6 engine that works seamlessly with an electric engine powered by a block of batteries.

The fuel efficiency of the Porsche Cayenne with Hybrid drive is currently 24 miles per gallon (9,8l/100km). The final version of the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid is supposed to be more efficient. Read more
