IAA 2007 Car Show Booth Babes Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review The IAA 2007 car show in Frankfurt is still going on and they expect about 1 million visitors. Besides the new cars like Lamborghini Reventon or Cayenne Hybrid the hot car show hostesses are the reason for the massive audience.

The German newspaper Bild has published a nice photo gallery featuring 32 IAA 2007 Booth models.
The photo above shows the new retro Fiat 500, but who cares about the car. Read more

Tiny Toyota iQ unveiled at IAA 2007 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Toyota unveiled the iQ concept car for urban use. The iQ is even a bit shorter than the Volkswagen Up! which was also unveiled today.

The iQ carries 3-4 people and measures a very short 2.98m. The width of the small car is 1,68m. Read more

Tiny Volkswagen Up! at IAA 2007 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Volkswagen unveiled the Up! city car at the IAA 2007. The tiny car has the motor at rear again, like the classic Volkswagen Beatle.

The Volkswagen Up! is 3,45m long and 1,63m wide and has space for four.
The 3-cylinder engine is supposed to only need 3,5l/100km (67mpg). Read more

IAA 2007: Lamborghini Reventon Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Lamborghini has an interesting strategy to save the planet. They will just make their new cars extremely expensive. The new 2008 Lamborghini Reventon is supposed to cost 1,000,000 Euro (~$1,383,000).

The Reventon is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 with 650hp and 4-wheel drive. Read more

About 2 years ago we reported for the first time about the BMW X6. As you can see when you compare the photos the X6 has changed quite a bit since then. For the better I might say.

The current BMW model portfolio is a bit boring. The X6 would be a very desirable car if it were available today. Read more

The new Porsche Cayenne GTS has a 8-liter V8 and is the first Cayenne to feature the electronically controlled damping system, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), with steel springs. This combination was previously reserved exclusively for Porsche sports cars. Read more

The Opel Flextreme is really very flexible as the name tries to communicate. The car would allow you to store a Segway and charge it - nice touch!

With the lithium batteries the Flextreme has a range of 40 miles. A 1.3l diesel engine is recharging the batteries. They can also be charged by a power outlet (PHEV - plug-in hybrid electric vehicle). Read more

At the IAA 2007 next week in Frankfurt, Herpa will unveil the concept. The new Trabi would be based on the BMW 1 series, but feature an all plastic body painted in the signature sky blue color. Read more

The Citroen C-Cactus is powered by a 70hp HDi Diesel engine and a 30hp electric engine.
The cute car would only need 3.4 l/100km (~69MPG) and the CO2 emissions would be only 78g/km.

Citroen managed to build the C-Cactus from only 200 parts. Comparable models need twice as much usually. Read more

Porsche Cayenne Hybrid at IAA 2007 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Porsche will apparently exhibit their current Porsche Cayenne Hybrid prototype at the IAA 2007 in Frankfurt next month.

Porsche announced that they were working on a Hybrid Cayenne back at the IFA 2005. Porsche uses a parallel concept for their hybrid drive. Currently they use a V6 engine that works seamlessly with an electric engine powered by a block of batteries.

The fuel efficiency of the Porsche Cayenne with Hybrid drive is currently 24 miles per gallon (9,8l/100km). The final version of the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid is supposed to be more efficient. Read more

German car makers currently focus on low consumption diesel cars to address the green market.

The Golf BlueMotion only needs 4.5l diesel per 100km. This translates into about 52MPG.
The CO2 emission just lies at 119g/km. With one tank of gas the Golf Bluemotion can reach 1,200km (~$745 miles).

The engine inside the fuel saving Golf is the TDI with 77kW/105hp. Read more

Apparently Not, Say Critics Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review KaZaA, Grokster, and Limewire, just to name a few, have essentially just become huge billboards on the information superhighway, saying "Hey, Recording Industry Association of Ameria (RIAA), come here for your next batch of litigation!" Apparently suing left and right is no fun any more, and now they're trying to "educate" people, like college students, about copyright law.

The only problem is that people opposed to the video they want to distribute, say that some claims made in the video about song downloading and sharing, are just dead wrong, and it contradicts information on the RIAA's website. Read more

Do not expect a Porsche Cayenne Hybrid SUV anytime soon at your personal Porsche dealer. Around 2010 it might be available.
The German Car makers are very late to the hybrid technology. Japanese car makers are miles ahead. VW announced together with their Audi and Porsche units hybrid technology push. Apparently Audi will already show a hybrid of the new Audi Q7 at the IAA, which should hit the roads in 2008.
I am all for alternative engine technologies. The car industry is way to focused on horse power. The current fuel prices help to drive the need for alternative energy. Read more

Swiss Tuning Company Rinspeed pays tribute to the Indianapolis race circuit with the Rinspeed Indy. The Indy is a repainted Porsche 997 in the extraordinary color white metallic.
The four way adjustable coil-over suspension with individual height and stiffness settings lower the Rinspeed Indy by 35mm (1.4"). The front, side and rear skirts are also especially designed for the Indy. Rinspeed also added an enhanced brake system.
The Indy is just very very pretty. I am sure it is damn fast too. Read more
