By working with RealNetworks, the netbook and nettop OEMs can bundle a Moblin-optimized media player that includes the most sought-after media format support, decreasing their development, legal and administrative costs and reducing time-to-market.

Devices that use the Intel Atom processor with Moblin based OS will have the added benefit of highly optimized performance and battery life when playing media content. RealPlayer can be used to play content in a browser window for an embedded Internet experience, and also as a stand-alone media player. Read more

Intel Atom Shortage to last until September says Asus Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review It looks like Intel landed a major hit with their low-cost and low-power ATOM CPUs for portable devices.
According to Digitimes Asustek President Jerry Shen said that the Intel Atom CPU shortage will last until September.

Asus will release a 8.9 inch Asus Eee PC with ATOM CPU in June that will apparently coexist with the current Asus Eee PC 900 (Celeron M CPU). Read more

Sharp Willcom D4 is first Intel Atom MID running Windows Vista Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Sharp announces the Mobile Internet Device Willcom D4, which is apparently beating everybody else to be the first Intel Atom MID running Windows Vista.

Intel announced the Atom CPUs on April 1st. The new Sharp WillCom D4 is designed for the Japanese market as it leverages the Willcom PHS network, but gives us an idea on the Atom MIDs that will be coming to the market this year. Read more
