Periscope Lighted Folio for Kindle Makes Reading Easier
One of the best features of the Amazon Kindle is the low power E-paper display it uses. One of the biggest drawbacks to the Kindle is also the display, which lacks a backlight. To read in the dark you need a light of some sort. A new product makes reading with the Kindle at night an easier task.
The device is called the Periscope Lighted Folio. The device will be available next month for $49.95 and is an all in one unit with a twin LED reading light, deluxe cover, and a notebook/pen holder. The equipment is housed in a black leatherette folio. Power is from three AA batteries and an AC adapter is available separately. Read more

The most important Kindle Accessory
Sometimes when I look at the Amazon Electronics bestseller list I see a harmless looking book light on the number two spot (right now it just disappeared again). The top spot has been reserved for the Amazon Kindle for a very long time.
Apparently the Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light is the most bought Kindle accessory. Kindle does not have a backlit screen, but paper books do not have one either. I never use a book light for reading, but Kindle owners do. I guess most Kindle owners read in bed with their partner sleeping next to them.

Oprah recommends Kindle and gives Coupon Code

This endorsement has huge value. Oprah is no early adopter as the Kindle has been on the market since last Holiday season. Oprah is a guide for the masses though. She can make or break a book with her little finger.

Kindle 2 Photos leaked
Photos of the next generation Amazon Kindle eBook reader surfaced. Amazon actually denied rumors of a new Kindle for this fall and this might also hold true, but there is a new Kindle 2 coming with a bit more attractive design.
The new Kindle has round corners and a new keyboard layout. It still does not blow me away. The screen is too small and the wide border around the display makes the device look unsexy. The new Sony PRS-700 eBook reader is better looking just because the screen covers more of the device surface.

Amazon Kindle Review
Laptop Magazine has reviewed the Amazon Kindle eBook reader. Laptop says you wouldn’t recognize the device as an eBook reader out of its black leather cover. The large 800 x 600 resolution e-ink screen was easy for the reviewer to read in direct sun.
Laptop says that the page turning buttons are easy to reach and comfortable to use. However, the buttons were overly sensitive leading to turned pages by mistake. The screen lacks a backlight so in a dark room you will still read by lamp, as you do with an analog book. Read more
