Today we are looking at the latest wireless mouse and keyboard desktop set from Microsoft. The set is called the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 7000 and features an Aero-esq design.

The mouse included with the set has 1000 dpi and is for right handed users only. A wealth of special F keys and Vista shortcuts are built into the mouse and keyboard as well. Read more

The future of HMDs (Head mounted Displays) possibly lies with Apple. Apple filed a patent for an interesting Laser-based HMD.

The Apple HMD would have the image processing in a unit that you wear on a belt to make the glasses as light as possible. The image would transmit to the glasses via fiber optics. Read more

Mitsubishi Laser TV - what we know so far

Somehow Laser TV crossed my mind this morning and I decided to hit the web to see if there are new details or publications by Mitsubishi since their announcement of the first Laser TV at the CES 2008 in January.

The last press information from Mitsubishi about the Laser TV got published along with new images of the 65" Laser TV prototype in Japan in Mid-February. The announcement is just a repeat of what has been announced at the CES 2008. It looks like Japan is not the first release target for the Mitsubishi Laser TV, the U.S. home theaters will have the honor of adopting a Laser TV first this fall. Mitsubishi also manufactures HDTVs in the North America. Read more

Blu-ray under Investigation by ITC on Laser Diode Patent Infringement

The U.S. International Trade Commission has agreed to hear a case filed by Columbia University Professor Emeritus Gertrude Neumark Rothschild that seeks to block the importation of a wide array of consumer electronics products manufactured by 30 companies that infringe her patent for LEDs and laser diodes.

Among the products affected by this investigation are Sony Blu-ray players. Read more

Microsoft Announces Wireless Laser Desktop 7000

Microsoft announced its latest wireless desktop today called the Wireless Laser Desktop 7000. Microsoft says that the new desktop is designed to complement the Windows Vista operating system with its design.

The keyboard is an ultrathin Comfort Curve design with a rechargeable mouse for performance and comfort, the Aero-inspired keyboard uses a translucent design to mimic the Windows Aero interface. Floating hot keys are available on the keyboard as well as one-touch Flip 3D access. Read more

Samsung MultiXpress CLX 8380NC Color Laser Printer

Samsung announced a new laser printer today aimed at professional workgroups that has a very fast print speed of 40 ppm. The multifunction device can also scan and copy in addition to printing. Features include a standard 100 sheet automatic duplex document feeder that holds over 2,700 pages.

The 40 ppm print speed is in full color at 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution. The printer can be controlled from a 7-inch touch screen as well. An internal 80Gb hard drive inside the printer allows for collate printing, proof printing and more. The multi-function device also sends faxes. The price is as large as the feature list at an MSRP of $4999. Read more

Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and 7000

Microsoft announced two new laser mice today called the Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 and the Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. The 7000 is a cordless rechargeable mouse that uses a horizontal charging station and is powered by an AAA battery. It also has 1,000 dpi resolution and one button access to Flip 3D and uses 2.4GHz wireless technology, good for a 30 foot range.

The 600 uses the same 2.4GHz wireless technology and has the same 1,000 dpi sensitivity. The main difference is that the 6000 has a dockable transceiver like you normally find on notebook mice. This means that the 6000 will be great for notebook users wanting a bigger mouse. Read more

Xerox Phaser 6125 Color Laser Printer

Xerox launched it's lowest cost color laser office printer today called the Phaser 6125. The printer can put out 12 pages per minute in color and 16 pages per minute in black.

The best thing about the printer is the price, the Phaser 6125 retails for $349. The toner used is Xerox Emulsion Aggregation High Gloss toner, which uses less toner per page. "Xerox continues to shatter the perception that high-quality color printing is a luxury only large businesses can afford," said Russell Peacock, president, Xerox Office Group. "The Phaser 6125 is designed for customers looking for a color printer that can handle everything from sales proposals to promotional hand outs efficiently and cost effectively." Read more

Interview with Mitsubishi about LaserTV

Mitsubishi introduced the first LaserTV at the CES 2008. We got the chance to conduct an email interview with Frank DeMartin, General Manager for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America to try to find out more about the upcoming Mitsubishi LaserTV.

At the CES, Mitsubishi showed a 65 inch LaserTV that is supposed to go on sale this fall. Pricing is supposed to be in the range of premium flat-panel TVs in the same size category. There seems to be still a lot of undetermined aspects that Mitsubishi has to hammer out before the market entry of the first Laser TV. Read more

It is real. Mitsubishi will reveal their 65 inch Laser TV tonight at the CES 2008. Engadget was already able to take a couple of photos of the Mitsubishi Laser TV.

2007 is almost over. It was an exciting year for gadgets, just think of the iPhone and all the other touch screen mobile phones it triggered. Laser TV to debut at CES 2008

CES 2008 is around the corner and the anticipation for a debut of Laser TV technology is growing again. The odds look very good that Mitsubishi will finally introduce a Laser TV at the CES.

Last Summer Mitsubishi said that they plan to show a Laser TV in 2008, after they missed the CES 2007. In December Greg Niven, EVP of marketing at Novalux, the company which makes a core technology component for Laser TVs, said that Laser-based rear-projection sets are close to commercialization and anticipated the first product introductions in 2008.
