Mitsubishi Laser TV drops in Price for the first Time

Topic:

Mitsubishi Laser TV drops in Price for the first Time Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review I am not sure what is going on with the Mitsubishi Laser TV LaserVue. Somehow it got rather quiet despite some recent manufacturing woes around the Laser TV technology. In the meantime Samsung hammers LED TV Technology into our heads and we are almost forgetting the cool Laser TV technology. Afterall Laser TVs give us twice the color, are energy efficient, 3D ready and can be housed in a thin canvas.

I was monitoring the prices on Amazon for the Mitsubishi L65A90 65-Inch LaserVue HDTV and now Amazon is selling it for $6,499 instead of the $6,999 price the unit has had since introduction last November.

Laser TV becomes new HDTV Entrant

Topic:

Laser TV becomes new HDTV Entrant Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review You thought plasma, LCD, OLED, DLP and CRT were all the choices you had in HDTV? Think again, man. Mitsubishi is adding a new color to the palette, in the form of a high-def TV that uses laser technology. Expect to pay a large premium, though, as always, for the increase in picture quality and environmental friendliness.

Mitsubishi's LaserVue HDTV is slated for release fairly soon, well in time for the holiday season. The difference over other high-def sets is that it uses an engine powered by laser lights, instead of standard TV lighting technology. It sounds cool, as many new fangled ideas do, but expect to pay around $7,000 to get in on the new fad. Read more

Topic:

Mitsubishi Laser TV - what we know so far Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Somehow Laser TV crossed my mind this morning and I decided to hit the web to see if there are new details or publications by Mitsubishi since their announcement of the first Laser TV at the CES 2008 in January.

The last press information from Mitsubishi about the Laser TV got published along with new images of the 65" Laser TV prototype in Japan in Mid-February. The announcement is just a repeat of what has been announced at the CES 2008. It looks like Japan is not the first release target for the Mitsubishi Laser TV, the U.S. home theaters will have the honor of adopting a Laser TV first this fall. Mitsubishi also manufactures HDTVs in the North America. Read more

Laser TV in Action

Topic:

Laser TV in Action Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review The hot new Laser TV technology that is supposed to be the next big thing has made an appearance on TV before Christmas. I totally missed it because of the holiday shopping craziness.

Laser company Coherent demonstrated a Laser TV prototype and the footage was shown on Kron 4 a San Francisco Bay Area TV channel.

Coherent was in the news just a couple days ago, because German based lighting giant Osram licensed Laser TV technology from Coherent.

We first reported about Laser TV, when Mitsubishi said they would bring a Laser TV to the market in 2007. Then in October, Arasor, a startup that is also based in the Silicon Valley showed a Laser TV prototype in Australia.

In the video about the Coherent Laser TV the say that commercial availability is to be expected in about 18 month. If there is not a big surprise, I think 2007 will pass and no Laser TV will be on the market. But maybe there is a big Laser TV splash at the CES 2007 that will make us believe again that Laser TV will be in shops this year. Read more

Silicon Valley Start-up Arasor on the Forefront of Laser TV Technology

Topic:

Silicon Valley Start-up Arasor on the Forefront of Laser TV Technology Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review We reported the first time about the Laser TV technology in April 2006, when Mitsubishi announced their Laser TV developments.

A Silicon Valley based start-up called Arasor is also developing laser TV displays. Arasor demonstrated a Laser TV with full HD resolution in Australia apparently today. See the photo (source: The Daily Telegraph).
Arasor has Australian backers. This is the reason why the start-up got exposure down-under.

Arasor claims that Laser TVs will be 30% cheaper to manufacture than comparable sized Plasma or LCD TVs. Additionally Laser TV sets are about 1/3rd lighter than other flat panel TVs and use 25% less power.
The Laser TV technology offers 90% of the color gamut, which is dramatically more than Plasma or LCD displays can deliver. Read more
