New iPod Model Numbers Leaked

New iPod Model Numbers Leaked Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

The big iPod event is about to hit, but it's still not too late for some sweet, juicy leaks. AppleInsider is reporting that several people "familiar with the matter" have leaked them several iPod model numbers. They claim their source is very reliable, and AppleInsider is rarely wrong about such claims.

Their source stated that there would be no capacity increases for the iPod nano or shuffle, but that the iPod classic would be getting a boost from 120 GB to 160 GB. This means first that the iPod classic WILL be getting a refresh of its line today (hurray!) and second that the shuffle will also be getting revamped as well. There is no news yet about the iPod touch (which may be delayed due to technical difficulties.).

Apple iTablet Component Suppliers Leaked. Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Apple's fabled iTablet hasn't even been formally announced yet, and already the entire world knows of its existence. For a company that prides itself on secrecy, this whole thing has been a glaring loss of control for Apple. And it continues today, with a leak from a Taiwanese newspaper who has identified some of the component suppliers for Steve Jobs' new brainchild.

Wintek is doing the display, while Dynapack is making the batteries. The device itself will be assembled by Foxconn. Could it be possible that it wasn't an iPhone that Sun Danyong lost, but a prototype iTablet? Maybe that's where this latest spate of leaks sprang from.

HTC Leo/Firestone Specs Leaked

Topic:

HTC Leo/Firestone Specs Leaked Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Right now in the smartphone world there's not much that's sexier than a Snapdragon processor, so any new phone that has one automatically piques a fair amount of interest. That's why the Leo, HTC's newest Windows 6.5 smartphone, has got people talking. It's got Qualcomm's 1 GHz snapdragon processor, 512 MB of flash memory, 320 MB of RAM, a 4.3” monster of a screen, GPS, aGPS, an Accelerometer, a 5 MP camera, Dual Band HSDPA/Quad Band GSM/Edge, WiFi, light and proximity sensors.

Remember, these specs are not confirmed, although nothing about them seems particularly fishy. The main question currently is what phone they're for. The phone pictured (and specced) here is either the HTC Leo or the HTC Firestone. No one is quite certain which, or whether the two names refer to different phones at all.

New HTC Android Smartphone Leaked?

New HTC Android Smartphone Leaked? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

It's been quite a big day for Android. Earlier today we got the spec list for the Rachael X3, plus the first images of the Motorola Morrison. Now it looks like we're getting yet another goody; this unnamed budget Android headset from HTC.

Let's get this out of the way; no one has heard anything from HTC about this mobile. It's entirely possible these pictures are a fake, or a mock-up from someone else. That said, this mystery phone bares a lot of design characteristics in common with the G1 and G2. One noticeable exception is the lack of a trackball on this new phone. It looks like the ball has been replaced by a small circular touchpad.

Google's promised us speed with this new OS, and so far it sounds like they are delivering. The tipster says that installation from Vista to Chrome took only 10 minutes. Only one restart was required, and the whole process was described as 'elegant', which is not generally a word one hears applied to OS installations.
