Verizon Wireless announced today that they are teaming up with the ladies international fashion brand Dooney & Bourke to launch an exclusive, and limited edition mobile phone wristlet case this summer for the ladies.

Yellow Limited Edition Nintendo DS Lite

Pokemon fans, Nintendo is following in Microsoft’s footsteps and offering up a yellow DS Lite that is nearly an exact match for the Homer Simpson Xbox 360’s yellow hue. The catch is that the Pikachu-yellow DS Lite is a limited edition. The system includes an etching of Pikachu on the front and a yellow stylus.

So limited in are the systems in fact, that you can only get the chance to buy one of the DS Lite's via lottery at the Japanese Pokemon Center. The price is $139 and you can enter the lottery on July 20. Read more

Globalstar Offers Unlimited Satellite Voice & Data Plan for $49.99

What do you do when you live or work in an area where you can’t get reliable cellular or land line phone services? You go with satellite phones of course, just like the guys in 24. I have heard of satellite service before but I always assumed it was hundreds of dollars per month to get that sort of service.

Globalstar USA has a constellation of satellites in orbit to provide voice and data services. The surprise for me came in Globalstar’s pricing, they offer unlimited airtime for $49.99 per month. That is cheaper than my cellular plan. Each year through 2010 the price of the unlimited plan goes down so in 2008 it will cost $39.99, and in 2009- 2010 it will be $19.99.

There are a couple catches to the service, the first is the phone. They are larger than current cellular phones and sport giant antennas that you have seen on TV most likely. The phones themselves will run you from $799 to $999 which isn’t that much more than you will pay for that new N95 from Nokia. Read more

Sony Responds to Criticism about the PAL Sony PS3 limited PS2 Support

Three Speech, a Sony affiliated blog, posted an interview today with Sony's Phil Harrison about the backward compatibility issue of the new European Sony PS3 (and other PAL regions) that will launch on March 23rd.

As reported Sony announced last week that the PAL PS3 will not have the PS2 Emotion Engine chip and will emulate PS2 games via software. So far that would be ok. The issue is that Sony hinted that less PS2 games will be supported and that the list of compatible games is only to be revealed on launch day.

Harrison plays down the problem and says there will be at least 1,000 PS2 titles compatible on launch day with the PAL PS3.
He also questions the number of people who will actually play PS2 games on the PS3. As said in my original story, I am not one of them. I am still waiting for a PS3 game that blows me away.

Sony Limited Edition James Bond Collection Gadgets

Sony announces James Bond branded gear to be offered in conjunction with the theatrical release of the new James Bond movie Casino Royale.

The limited edition 007 branded gadgets include a VAIO TX notebook, Sony UX Micro PC, Cyber-shot T-50 digital camera and a 1GB Micro Vault.
The Bond gadgets can be purchased separatly or in bundles.
The first bundle is built around the VAIO VGN-UX007 and is accompanied by the Cyber-shot DSC-T50 and a 1GB Micro Vault. It will cost around $3,200.

The Sony NW-A1200/B comes only in black as the model number indicates. This Sony Walkman is one of the first 8GB mp3 players out there.

Engadget has photos of a charity auction where special limited editions of Nintendo DS were auctioned off. Photo shows alan cummings with his $1,500 Nintendo DS.

In other news Sony PSP outsold the Nintendo DS last week the first time in Japan. Overall Nintendo DS is still leading, but it shows a trend that the Sony PSP is gaining still on momentum.
For gamers outside Japan the Sony PSP prices have dropped this week.
