The New 27-inch Core i7 Apple iMac Is Expensive But I Am In Love
Apple unveiled yesterday the new line of Apple iMac All-In-One computers.
I mentioned several times in my iMac rumors coverage over the last weeks that a Core i7 iMac would give me weak knees and get my credit card number typed into the Apple Store checkout page at light speed.
Now Apple did announce a new iMac that can be had with Core i7, the fastest CPU Intel currently offers. The problem that stands between me and the 27-inch Core i7 iMac besides the November shipping date is the price.
Some say that 27-inch is too big, but I know it is just a matter of getting used to and then you are hooked. I currently work with a 26-inch Monitor and have a 19-inch as 2nd display next to it. The first 2 days I got seasick looking at the 26-inch screen, but now I can not work on smaller screens anymore. Therfore 27-inch just sounds very right to me.

Motorola Loves Android! 10 New Phones
I'd like to preface this one by stating that any "analyst predictions" should be taken with a big ol' grain of salt. Anyway, Android and Me reports that Global Equities Research has claimed that Motorola will release as many as 10 Android phones in the next 6-10 months. Prices on these phones will vary from $39 to $399.

The Nokia/Intel Lovechild: What It Means for the Industry
Big news came from out of left field today when Nokia and Intel announced that they are partnering up. This partnership is expected to turn Nokia into one of Intel's largest chip customers, as well as allow Nokia to finally break into the mobile industry.
When I first heard this news, I was ecstatic. 'Oh joy!' I cried, 'Smartphones with Atom processors! Finally!'

Will Students Love the Kindle?
College students are a huge cash cow. Any time a bunch of inexperienced kids get together with thousands of dollars of their parent's or the government's money, retailers start to get excited. One of the biggest college-student related industries is the textbook market. American college students spend close to 10 billion dollars a year on criminally overpriced textbooks. Anyone who can tap into that has a chance to suckle hundreds of millions of dollars into their greedy throats.
That was obviously Amazon's dream when they came up with the Kindle DX. The DX has a big 9.7 inch screen, which was intended to make it easier to read full-size textbooks or newspapers. It can highlight and bookmark passages, look up words, or annotate text with notes from the student. The three major textbook publishers, Pearson, Cengage Learning, and John Wiley & Sons, have all signed up already to offer books on the Kindle DX.

Apple Satisfies its Lovers: LG Close Behind.
J.D. Power & Associates released a study today that ranked the level of satisfaction users had with their smartphones and mobile phones. Following expectations, the frenzied hordes of iPhone junkies loved their phones the most. In the normal mobile phone market, LG users were the most satisfied. LG also nabbed the #2 spot in smartphone satisfaction.
Apple scored a 791 out of 1,000 on J.D. Power's scale. The iPhone's ease-of-use, OS, and basic design were all noted as huge contributing factors to its success. This news should come to no surprise to anyone. The iPhone dominates the smartphone market, and it's not just because of the borderline-psychotic brand loyalty shown by some Apple users. From the day they entered the smartphone race, Apple has kept their eyes focused on what modern consumers want out of their phones.

Angelina Jolie: Gadget Fan, Loves the Palm Pre
Sexy starlet Angelina Jolie was recently seen on the set of her newest movie sporting the as-of-yet-unreleased Palm Pre, according to a report from the LA Gossip Examiner.
The story quotes a production assistant from the movie Salt who claims:
"I asked her how she likes the phone. She went on about it for about two minutes. She basically said she likes the software better than the iPhone, she likes the thumboard for texting (although the keys aren't big enough), and thinks the screen is beautiful but can be too easily scratched."Read more

Sony's new found Love for PS3 Developers continues with new DECR-1400A and more
In early March Sony made some waves saying the PS3 is hard to develop for on purpose. In the last days news surrounding new tools for PS3 developers have appeared. We already reported about the NVIDIA PhysX engine available now on the PS3.
Now Sony is further enhancing its support for developers with the introduction of new Reference Tool models in March 2009, DECR-1400A for North America and Europe/PAL territories at US $2,000 and €1,700 respectively, and DECR-1400J for Japan at JPY 200,000.
Having the same form factor as the commercially available PS3, the new Reference Tool models allow advanced game programming and more efficient computer graphics rendering. With its more affordable pricing, this new model will appeal to a broader range of developers and publishers, and will help to provide a more streamlined game development environment, further accelerating the game development for PS3.

Safari 4 is Love at first Sight
Apple just released the beta version of Safari 4. I just installed the 26MB download and Safari 4 has a big chance to get me off of Microsoft IE 8. The new Top Sites and Coverflow Browser history are really very sexy to look at and to use.
The pseudo 3D and mirror effects look great and the browser is very fast in displaying the new UI gimmick.
The new Top Sites feature learns your favorite sites from your surfing behavior. I surfed 3 times to I4U News and now it shows in my Top Sites that is prefilled with Apple's picks.

Sony F23 Camera used in Cloverfield
The low-budget monster movie Cloverfield had a very successfull opening last weekend. Sony says that the makers of Cloverfield used the Sony F23 high-definition camera for the footage the character Hud shoots during the monster attack on New York.
"We needed the look of the movie to be very immediate, like ‘found footage,’ so a YouTube aesthetic was the look we were trying to achieve, Nick Theodorakis, digital imaging supervisor for Cloverfield, said. "The F23 provided latitude without sacrificing any color imagery, allowing us to stay as strict to reality as possible while generating that warm look of New York City’s streets with its sodium vapor lights."

Wii Boxing Gloves
I have to say that out of all the Wii Sports games, boxing is definitely one of my favorites. I don’t have a hard time keeping my grip on the nun chuck or remote, but if you are prone to flinging the remotes around thanks to sweaty hands here is a solution.
If you already own the Wii Nerf sports set and are looking to get realism from your boxing Divineo.ca has a set of boxing gloves that hold the remote on one side and hold the nunchuck on the other hand. Read more

Should the HDTV Lover go HD DVD or Blu-Ray?
This morning I posted a bit about my woes trying to watch a Blu-Ray flick on my PS3 and invited everyone to let me know if they were having issues as well. I received several emails and one in particular asked a question that I think lots of HDTV lovers out there are considering, what format to buy. When you look at HD formats for DVD we have the neigh legendary Blu-Ray vs. HD DVD war raging. Commonly people compare the current format war to the VHS and Betamax war from years ago. That particular format was had VHS winning and Betamax going to pro use only.
Now the question that was posed to me was this, without considering gaming on the PS3 what format do I think is best for those looking for HD quality DVD video between Blu-Ray and HD DVD. There is a lot to consider in that question. Personally, Blu-Ray has more of the movies I like available, like my aforementioned Bond flick which isn’t on HD DVD. So if I had to choose one format I’d go Blu-ray currently. In my area there are significantly more Blu-Ray movies available than HD DVD. I’m of the opinion that the studios don’t care about the format for the most part (admittedly some studios have a vested interest in one format over the other like Sony). They care about making money by getting their films into the hands of the most buyers possible. To that end I believe we will see more film publishers going to hybrid discs like those Warner Brothers is pitching that have both HD DVD and Blu-Ray on one disc. If that option doesn’t pan out I think more and more hardware manufacturers will begin going to hybrid players that can play either HD DVD or Blu-Ray. One way or the other I can’t help but think that we will see a convergence of the two formats more than we will see one win over the other. Read more

Roboglove Detects Metal On, Around and In People
Typical metal detectors are the wand type that we are all familiar with from night clubs, air ports and maybe high school. Roboglove is a metal detector built in to a glove that can detect metals on, around and sometimes inside suspects.
As an added benefit it gives the bouncers at the club more of a reason to cop a feel as they move you through line rather than just wedging their wands in your bum. The gloves are designed to vibrate when metal is detected. Read more
