Artemide LED Tolomeo Exclusively Coming From Humanscale
The new LED version of the iconic Tolomeo task light from Artemide will now be distributed to the United States contract market through Humanscale.
This story caught my eye because I have been sitting on a Humanscale Freedom Chair for a couple of years and it makes 12-hour days in front of the internet an easy task.
Back to the Artemide LED Tolomeo lamp. What should I say, I also have a Tolomeo Mini Table Task Lamp on my desk. Their design is cool and timeless.

Dell Android MID on AT&T in 2010?
AT&T customers are in an odd position. Their carrier has a host of issues in actually delivering the coverage it promises. But, at the same time, ATT users have access to some of the hottest mobile gadgets in the world. And, if Digitimes is correct, they're about to get one more.
A Chinese-language newspaper, the Commercial Times reported that Dell has outsourced all Mini 3 smartphone production to Foxconn. They've also decided to rely on Quisda for the production of their new MID line-up. We've heard rumors before of a Dell Android MID, and now it appears that the company is actually working on a series of such devices.

GameStop Also Plans Midnight Release For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Yesterday we reported that Best Buy will be doing a nationwide midnight release for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on November 10th. Today, Gamestop has announced that they will also be doing a midnight opening for this latest CoD. In case you haven't heard, the first Modern Warfare was the bestselling FPS game in history (so far).
It's not hard to see why both Best Buy and Gamestop are excited. Modern Warfare 2 shows every sign of being a chart-topper. Unless Infinity Ward has seriously managed to muck things up with this one, it's going to be huge.

Soyea MID Z5: For The Serious Nerd Only
Most MIDs tend to have pretty anemic hardware. Not so with the Soyea MID Z5 (Engadget). This bad boy dual-boots Windows XP and Linux, which should satisfy the hardcore open source geeks among us. In addition to the unique OS combo, the Z5 has some pretty intense hardware.

Windows 7 Midnight Launch At Fry's: A Human Drama
11:52 pm. The witching hour. It's cold, wet, and windy tonight in Plano. That's an uncommon combination for this state. Most of this week has been dry and warm and then today, of all days, it started to rain. And kept on raining for eleven straight hours. Now it's damp and foggy, which lends a sort of ominous caste to the whole world.
Perhaps the weather is why there are so few people here tonight. Or perhaps people in suburban Texas prefer Macs over PCs. Whatever the reason, I can tell the employees here are disappointed by the low turn-out. There are less than two-dozen of us waiting outside of this Fry's in eager anticipation of the Windows 7 midnight release.

Dell Android MID 'The Streak' Seen Vietnam
Apparently Dell is as much of an Android fanatic as those of us who dropped $200 on the G1 last year. Confirmation that the 3i Android smartphone would be heading to the U.S. was exciting enough on its own. Now we're hearing news that Dell also has an Android MID (via SlashGear) headed for the U.S. I've never had any reason to be excited about a Dell product before, but this news has me quivering with glee.
Screenshots of the MID, codenamed the Streak, came initially from Vietnamese-based Tinhte.com. They state that the MID features a 5" WVGA touchscreen, packs Android 2.0, is WiFi capable and 3G enabled, and has a 5 MP camera with a dual LED flash. It's also got a microSD card and a 1300 mAH battery. The model variant is listed as "US", which is proof that this sexy little piece of Android-goodness is bound for the States. The most exciting thing about this MID has to be the front-facing camera stuck on the left side of the display. That means this device will be perfect for video conferencing.

Eric Schmidt Pictured With Mystery Android Smartphone [Update]
Earlier today Verizon Wireless and Google announced the forming of a new handset alliance. The announcement was made with great fanfare and a flurry of press shots of executives of the two companies being friendly. One shot in particular caught the perceptive eye of the Boy Genius crew. This photo of Eric Schmidt (on your left) shows the Google CEO holding an unknown Verizon branded device.
It's not clear what the new smartphone is, but from the distant shot we have of it the Android UI is barely intelligible. From the overall shape of the phone, it looks a lot like an HTC manufactured device. Could this be an early version of the smartphone Google and Verizon are working together to create?
Update: It is a Verizon branded HTC Hero with slight modifications. Read morePosted on Tue, 6 Oct 2009 12:46:20 CDT | by Robert Evans
Ramos W7 Android MID Specced, Launch In Progress
The day Android fans have been waiting for since at least last week has arrived! The ultra-thin Android "mystery MID" launches today at a press event in Shenzhen. The event is ongoing, but thanks to Cloned in China the first details of the new Ramos MID, now known as the W7, have emerged.
Apparently this tablet-like gadget runs on a Rockchip RK2808 chipset with a 600MHz processor. It has a 4.8" capacitive touchscreen with WiFi connectivity and 780p support. It can handle a variety of formats; MKV, AVI, RMVB are mentioned by name. The device is said to be 2 mm thick at its thinnest point, and only 10 mm at its thickest. The device has 8 GB and 16 GB versions, which should retail for around $191 and $235 respectively.

Mystery Android MID Coming Sept 25th?
Put on your speculation hats, it's time for a big, juicy rumor! You may remember the mystery Android MID from a few weeks ago. It was pretty and slim and fast and every tech journalist and gadget fan on earth fell madly in love with it until we found out it was just a Rockchip-powered concept piece. If Engadget is right today, however, this Android MID could be seeing a launch on Sept 25th.
RAmos, the company behind the MID, is hosting a press event on September 25th. The event will feature "Android" and "ramos digital", and that is the extent of what we know. There's no proof or even hard evidence that the Android MID will be the product released, but it is the last major product RAmos was working on. The fact that the event involves Android makes it even more likely that we'll see something LIKE our beloved tablet there.

Identity of Mystery Android MID+Videos
Over the last couple of weeks, the whole gadget world has been nerding out over a mysterious Android MID. This little 5” device is a shiny, unbelievably slim little beauty of a touch tablet that's set geek hearts across the Internet aflame. Unfortunately, the identity of this Cinderella-tablet has remained utterly unknown since it's first appearance two weeks ago.
Unknown until now, that is. Pocketables has managed to tie a name to this sultry little minx of an MID. Apparently this tablet is a concept prototype from Chinese manufacturer Rockchip, built to show off their RK2808 720p-decoding chipset. This is both bad news and good news. The bad news is that we may never see this product in stores, the good news is that we're very likely to see something that's virtually identical. Possibly even better.

Mystery Android MID Snapped Once More
Last week, photos leaked of a gorgeous, unnamed Android MID device. We have no idea who makes this pretty little 4.5-5” touchscreen tablet, or what sort of specs it has. All we know is that it's pretty, thin, runs on Android, packs an SD slot and might have a SIM slot.

Mystery Android MID Pictured
MIDs aren't generally very exciting devices. Considering most of them cost in excess of $1000 for less functionality than the average netbook, they haven't really made much of a splash on the gadget market yet. That said, this new mystery Android MID pictured by pocketables has me drooling like a pubescent ninny.
These leaked MID images don't show a model name or give any information about the manufacturer. All we know is that someone is working on an exquisitely thin, elegantly simplistic little tablet MID powered by Android. It has at least one SD card slot and possible phone functions. If you look at the top of that menu in the picture, you can just barely read the words, “SD card & phone storage”. That could mean that this svelte beauty has a SIM slot somewhere in that tiny frame.

Eric Schmidt Took No Salary From Apple
This Monday we learned that Eric Schmidt, the Chief Executive of Google, was resigning his seat upon the Apple board. Now we're starting to learn some of the details of his tenure with Google. Schmidt was a board member from August 2006 to August 2009. BusinessWeek reports that, during that time, Schmidt drew no salary from Apple.
This would be surprising for pretty much any other tech mogul. Dr. Schmidt, however, has a reputation for this sort of behavior. He currently draws a $1 a year salary from Google, and he hasn't accepted stock options from his own company for several years now.

Dynamism Offers Viliv X70 MID
Dynamism has offered a MID before that was pretty slick looking called the Viliv S5. The company has now announced the follow-up to that device called the Viliv X70. The new X70 has a 7-inch screen opposed to the 5-inch screen the S5 sports.
The X70 has a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 and stores data to a 32GB SSD. Under the tablet skin are netbook internals like an Intel Atom running at 1.33GHz. The miserly CPU and SSD allow the device to operate for five or more hours on a single charge for movie playback. Read more
