Gameloft Releasing Midnight Bowling for WiiWare
Gameloft has announced that it will be releasing a bowling game called Midnight Bowling for the Wii. The game is available only as a download via WiiWare. Gameloft says that this is the fifth title it has developed for WiiWare.
Midnight Bowling retails for 800 Wii points. Players can chose to challenge up to three friends in multiplayer battles or play alone in career mode. The controls are precise and offer advanced spin control. Career mode puts players in trendy locations and the look of the ball can be customized. Read more

Katie Holmes debuts on Broadway amid Protests
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Actress Katie Holmes won praise for her debut on Broadway
on Thursday night, where she was cheered on by actor husband Tom Cruise and
shouted at by anti-Scientology protesters outside the theater.
The drama started before the curtains went up in the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater
with a group of about 20 protesters, some masked, chanting "Scientology is a
cult" and "Free Katie," according to the New York Daily News.

Report: Linux will take Bulk of MID Market
ABI Research says that the Linux operating system will take the bulk of the mobile Internet device market by 2013. ABI specifies three Linux varieties that it believes will take most of the market including Moblin, LiMo, and Maemo.
Volumes of 50 million units per year using these operating systems are expected. ABI says that one of the most significant features of the Linux OS is that it can span multiple product categories with a single OS working for MIDs, smartphones, and other devices. Read more

Midori discussed as Microsoft Windows Killer
Microsoft Research is working on the next OS that will eventually replace Windows as we know it. A leaked white paper that is the source of an article on SD Times triggered lots of coverage about Midori.
Midori is a stripped down and modular OS that centers around the net. I am not sure if Midori is the new name of MinWin that made a brief appearance last year.

Midway Launches MidwayArcade.com
Midway announced the launch of its MidwayArcade website where gamers can download versions of Midway classic arcade games and touch screen favorites. Classic titles from the heyday of arcade’s like Defender, Joust, Spy Hunter and Mahki are available.
The price for the games is good at $5 for three games. Midway also launched a new digital store front where ten recent Midway releases can be had for $9.99 each. I haven’t played some of those games since I was a kid. Read more

Midway Developing Blitz: The League II
Midway Games has announced that it is currently developing the next installment in its million copy selling Blitz football video game franchise. The new title is called Blitz: The League II and the game is expected to ship this fall for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The game will see the return of football legend Lawrence Taylor and features a new story mode written by ESPN “Playmakers” writer Peter Egan. The game also promises new features and enhanced gameplay for fans of the Blitz franchise. Read more

Rockstar Games Sets Release Date for Midnight Club: Los Angeles
Rockstar Games has announced the release date for the latest title in the Midnight Club franchise called Midnight Club: Los Angeles. The game will be available on the Xbox and PS3 and a Midnight Club: LA remix version will hit the PSP.
The games will be available on October 7th in the US and October 10th in Europe. The game promises a very realistic racing experience through the streets of LA. The game will give players an open racing world to drive through. Read more

Nvidia Tegra MID Photos
Yesterday Nvidia launched a computer-on-a-chip for MIDs dubbed Tegra at the Computex 2008.
Nvidia tries to challenge Intel's Atom chip with Tegra. Besides shiny Tegra MID prototypes that can be found on the Nvidia site, Nvidia showed a working MID at the COMPUTEX press-event.

Orange to sell iPhone in Europe, Middle East and Africa
Apple lands another carrier deal for their iPhone. Orange announcing a deal for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
France Telecom owned Orange will sell the iPhone in Austria, Belgium, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Jordan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland and its African markets later this year.
In case of Austria and Switzerland there are carrier overlaps, meaning Apple dropped the exclusivity deals in these countries.

Sharp Willcom D4 is first Intel Atom MID running Windows Vista
Sharp announces the Mobile Internet Device Willcom D4, which is apparently beating everybody else to be the first Intel Atom MID running Windows Vista.
Intel announced the Atom CPUs on April 1st. The new Sharp WillCom D4 is designed for the Japanese market as it leverages the Willcom PHS network, but gives us an idea on the Atom MIDs that will be coming to the market this year.

Asus plans to introduce a $500 MID (Mobile Internet Device) in June dubbed Asus R50.
The Intel based Asus R50 MID features a 5.6 inch screen.

3G iPhone coming mid-year Rumor
That Apple will release a 3G iPhone in 2008 is pretty much certain. The question is where and when. An UBS analyst is now guessing that Apple will release a 3G iPhone mid-year.
The rumor is based on 3G chip supply from Infineon for Apple.

MELODIS Introduces Midomi Music search for Mobile Phones
We have all found ourselves at one point or another humming the tune of a song that is stuck in our head while racking our brain to try and recall the name of the song and the band. A new mobile phone application has been release called midomi that will solve that problem.
The application is available for free download and works on Symbian OS mobile phones and the S60 platform. Once installed all you need to do is sing the words into your handset and it will search for the song for you. If you don’t know the words to the song, you can whistle or hum the tune as well. Future versions of the application will add support for more mobile phone operating systems. Read more

Readius ePaper Phone comes mid 2008
Polymer Vision, the ePaper spin out from Philips is promising the Readius mobile phone again. Sounds like this year’s Mobile World Congress must start soon in Barcelona.
About one year ago Polymer Vision and the Telekom Italia was supposed to offer the Cellular-Book dubbed Readius in 2007. Looks like that did not work out and the new release of an improved Readius phone is now scheduled for mid 2008.
