Sony Vending Machines Out Now
"Push C-4 for Wireless Headphones". It's not the typical vending machine repertoire, but via these high-tech "robotic stores", you will be able to purchase PSP software, Sony brand blank media, headphones, and other accessories. Two versions of these machines are being introduced: a 4-foot-wide version and an 8-foot-wide version.
You will only be able to pay via credit/debit card (no cas allowed), in effect restricting them from the under-18 crowd. One idea that's being considered is to attach a USB port to allow people who buy an MP3 player to download music files on the spot.

KitchenAid Pro Line Espresso Machine
If you look for a serious espresso machine, the KitchenAid Pro Line (Artisan) Espresso Machine is a solid and stylish choice.
I just got me one this week. I am allergic against those automatic coffee makers where you just stick a pad in and push a button. It is just not the cool way to make coffee.
When I first encountered the KitchenAid Espresso machine, I was kind of wondering how an American Company would know how to make
a great Espresso (No, the Espresso at Starbucks is not good). It became clear after I learned that KitchenAid partnered with Italian Gaggia to make the Pro Line.

Apple iPod Vending Machine in the US
On Thursday we reported about a Gadget Slot Machine in Japan, where customers can win gadgets like the Sony PSP or the iPod shuffle. Now there is actually a Apple iPod vending machine at the Airport in Atlanta.
Looks like the customers can get the iPod shuffle and the iPod mini from this machine. I guess it takes credit cards, else that would be a lot of coins.
Story first seen on Boing Boing. Hi-Res photos on Flickr.

Equal Rights Washing Machine - Damn You, Fingerprint Sensor!
BBC News reports about a Spanish Designer inventing a washing machine that can only be operated in turns. Meaning after your wife or your husband washed once, the next time the other partner has to do it. A Fingerprint sensor push-button does the trick.
The Equal Rights Washing Machine is intended as Father's Day gift and that in Macho Spain. Apparently things changed in Spain.

GoDogGo Automatic Fetch Machine for Dogs
GoDogGo is an automatic fetch machine for dogs.
It's a remote-control ball launcher that throws tennis balls 15-30+ feet for a dog to retrieve. The Dog owner controls the launch distance and launch times with a remote control. Dogs can supposedly be trained to put the balls back in the bucket for continous play.
So if you are sick of touching the same slimy wett ball the dog brings you back every time you throw it, than this machine is for you.
The GoDogGo sells for $149.95 at the GoDogGo site.

Smart Tag Reading Washing Machine
Japanese Dai Nippon Printing Co. has developed a washing machine that can read smart tags and inform users of the best method of washing of clothes.
The washing machine has a LCD panel and a internet connection. If smart tag enhanced clothing (All my clothes have of course smart tags) is placed into the washing machine, the machine will read the tags to identify the material and the number of past washings. When finished washing the machine can send a SMS or email - yeah!

Fuji Xerox PC Screen Copy Machine Prototype
Fuji Xerox Co. developed a prototype color photo-copier to copy content displayed on a PC monitor.
The prototype measures about 6 x 8cm and features a photosensitive layer and a Color LCD display. When a user touches the screen and presses a button, the portion touched is copied.
The machine can only copy content on a PC screen set to intense brightness.
The company aims to bring the copier to market in four years.
I am not quite sure why one would need such device. Also if you want to take a screen capture, why not use a digital camera.

Magic Machine for Camera Phone Photos
Our New Partner Wireless Watch Japan has a new Video Report about a new Digital Photo Printing Kiosk.
Quote:
Japan is famous for cool camera-phones and its massive vending machine industry, put them together and you've got a significant business opportunity. We visited Pinchange Co. Ltd, and got a step-by-step demo. of their lean, mean Print Club Sticker making vending machine. Spun out of Panasonic’s Central Research Institute in 2001, the company is making a digital photo printing unit thats sure to follow in the foot steps of digital cameras - on phones or otherwise - around the world. By allowing users to input their photos from almost any type of memory card or even straight from the handset IR Port, we think they've tapped into a global goldmine. But thats not all we saw, they also gave us a sneak preview at a prototype LED virtual keyboard for mobile devices set to hit the streets here in 2004.
