GameStop Also Plans Midnight Release For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Yesterday we reported that Best Buy will be doing a nationwide midnight release for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on November 10. Today, Gamestop has announced that they will also be doing a midnight opening for this latest CoD. In case you haven't heard, the first Modern Warfare was the bestselling FPS game in history (so far).
It's not hard to see why both Best Buy and Gamestop are excited. Modern Warfare 2 shows every sign of being a chart-topper. Unless Infinity Ward has seriously managed to muck things up with this one, it's going to be huge.

Google Commerce Search: To Ease Your Holiday Shopping
Once again, Google's come up with something to make a traditional pain in the behind less of an agony. Their latest new service isn't nearly as awesome or convenient as Google Voice, but it still helps to simplify what was once an annoyance. Google Commerce Search launched today, with the stated goal of simplifying holiday shopping for consumers and online retailers alike.
A good search service that returns pertinent hits is a crucial part of any e-retailer. Plenty of websites have awful search engines that keep customers from stumbling upon great deals and finding the products they really want. Google Commerce Search is a program that applies Google's search engine to whatever online store you happen to be browsing. It allows shoppers to search by category, price, brand, or any other attribute you can think of.

The Cyberus ID700WTA Smart Info Engine; You Got Your E-Reader In My Media Player
E-Readers are still a fairly young type of product, which means the market is currently glutted with different company's takes on the idea. Some of them, like the Barnes & Noble nook, are really cool looking gadgets that could end up establishing an e-reader dynasty. Others, like the Sony Reader, are about as exciting and inspired as a pair of flannel pajama bottoms. I'm not sure yet which category Cyberus' new ID700WTA “Smart Info Engine” falls under, but I've got strong suspicions it could end up being awesome.
The ID700 isn't a dedicated e-reader, of course. Cyberus bills it as being a hybrid reader and personal media player. I think they need to stop splitting hairs and just call the damned thing a tablet PC, but that's just me. The ID700 has a 7” LCD screen, and comes with a protective folding cover that makes it look slightly more like a book. While Cyberus doesn't run their own e-book store, this reader can handle most e-book formats and, as an added blessing, can read PDF files.

Samsung Makes Crazy-Thin 32 GB Flash Memory
Flash memory just got a little flashier. As Electronista reports Samsung has just revealed yet another advance in NAND flash memory. Their new chip fits 32 GB onto a single .02” thick chip. According to the Korean-based company, this new advance was managed by using a new “bare” package that is half as thick, but apparently as sturdy, as the old one.

New MSN Homepage Launching
Once again, Microsoft has given a facelift to the MSN homepage. All Things Digital reports that the new page has started rolling out now. Microsoft's goal is to give roughly 10% of of their user base access to the new page by the time 2010 rolls around. At that point, the updated homepage will be available to all US customers, with a worldwide release to follow.
If you just can't wait to see what's new with MSN, a preview page is available here. My immediate impression of the new page is that there is quite a lot of white space. Bing has been integrated into the page, and on the lower right hand side you can see a hotmail and a Windows Live toolbar. The coolest new change is definitely the addition of a Facebook and Twitter sidebar.

Kingston and Paramount Digital Entertainment Team Up for Movies on Flash Memory
Kingston and Paramount announced today that the two have teamed up to deliver Paramount movies on Kingston flash memory products. The partnership will deliver full-length movies to consumers as a bundle package sale.
Neither company divulged when the partnership will launch its first products or how the products will be packaged. I bet it will be along the lines of the Godfather flash drives we have seen before with the movie on a drive carrying logos from the film. What movies will be seen first is unknown as well. Read more

IPEVO P2V USB camera Debuts
Webcams are a dime a dozen really with most of them having the same design and features. IPEVO has announced a new webcam called the P2V camera that is a bit different. The camera sits on an articulating arm.
The arm looks like it should be attached to a desk lamp rather than a webcam. The arm allows the camera to be adjusted for height and angle so it can get the best picture quality. The camera also has a macro mode allowing it to focus on things as close as 2-inches from the camera. Read more

Sprint Launches Samsung Moment
The Droid launch has been so big and heavily publicized that it's easy to forget there are other Android smartphones out there. Take the Samsung Moment (via Engadget Mobile), It launched yesterday on Sprint's network to very little fanfare. While the Moment may not be the powerhouse that the Droid is, it still has a few cool features you might be interested in.
For one thing, the Moment has a 3.2” AMOLED screen. I'm always in favor of more OLEDs and more Android smartphones, so both in one is just an extra slice of awesome. The Moment also has a solid 256 MB of RAM and an 800 MHz processor, along with a sliding QWERTY keyboard. It costs $179.99 after a $100 mail in rebate.

Mosquitoes Augmented Reality Game For iPhone 3GS launched
I am a sucker for augmented reality apps (AR) and therefore had to try out Mosquitoes right away when developer Makayama pointed me to it.
The iPhone game Mosquitoes lets you shoot animated mosquitoes that are infesting your room. The game uses besides the camera, the compass and accelerometer to realistically let you hunt down the mosquitoes around you.
Try playing this AR Game on a rotating office chair - it works quite well.

Creative Throws Their Hat Into The E-Book Ring: Zii MediaBook
All the tech news sites (including this one) have dedicated an enormous amount of time, effort, and words discussing the Apple iTablet. Despite the fact that such a product may not and may never exist, every rumor and analyst speculation about it has been picked apart and discussed to death. While we were busy geeking out over this mythical gadget, Creative was busy actually building the damn thing.
That's right; Epizenter reports that, at their Annual General Meeting, Creative made a surprise announcement. They unveiled a working prototype of their very first e-reader, tentatively named the Zii MediaBook. This MediaBook isn't your standard black-and-white e-ink reader either. It's got a touchscreen, text-to-speech functionality, and an SD slot. Creative also says it will be 'Internet-enabled', but didn't elaborate if that meant 3G functionality or WiFi (or both).

Confirmed: Droid Eris Launches November 6th, $99
Good news, Android fans and Verizon subscribers, we have confirmation that the new Droid Eris will launch on November 6th. The Eris seems set to be the iPhone 3G to the Droid's 3GS. Despite the fact that it is virtually identical to the $180 HTC Hero, the Eris will cost only $99. Rumors of the release date and price point leaked out earlier this week, but this leaked internal document found by Engadget is the first real proof we have.
The Eris is definitely a step below the Droid, but it does have two awesome features that its big brother lacks. As a Hero clone, the Eris will pack multitouch and the Sense UI. This means that Android 1.6 won't be happening on the Eris, but the wait until 2.0 isn't too far ahead.
