Motorola Milestone Is Official In Germany Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review The Motorola Milestone already appeared over the weekend, but now Motorola presents the Milestone aka Droid in full glory on their German site.
There is actually one interesting difference between the Droid and the Milestone. The two finger pinch zoom gesture is available on the German Milestone, but not on the U.S. Droid. Engadget features video of the Milestone doing the pinch. The German Milestone specifications on the Motorola site confirm that zooming with two fingers is a feature of the Milestone. Read more

Motorola Droid Goes Germany As Motorola Milestone On O2 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review The Motorola Droid gets a new name when it arrives on O2 in Germany. The Droid will be known as Milestone. I guess because Verizon Wireless takes ownership of the Droid brand, other carriers have to come up with theirs. Verizon is using the Droid brand also for other Android devices like the Droid Eris.
O2 did not unveil the Motorola Milestone yet, but the word is out via BGR and also a link to an O2 webpage appeared in this forum.

Today marks 20 years since IBM Fellow Don Eigler became the first person to ever move and control a single atom.

Eigler and his team built a custom microscope and used it to spell out IBM with 35 xenon atoms. This was the first time that anyone had successfully moved individual atoms with accuracy. The scanning tunneling microscope was used to visualize and experiment with molecules and atoms. Read more

Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 Hits Milestone Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Activision has announced that map pack 1 for COD: World at War has hit a milestone with over two million downloads. That number is a combination of sales via Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. COD: World at War is a very cool game, but I preferred Modern Warfare to the WWII title.

The map pack includes four new multiplayer maps Nightfire, Station, Knee Deep, and Verruckt. On the Xbox, the map pack is 800 points and it sells for $9.99 of the PC. Gamers are no doubt waiting for the next map pack for the game. Read more

Sony PSP reaches 50 million world-wide Sales Milestone Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Sony announced today that the PSP console cumulative worldwide sell-in units of PSP (PSP-1000, 2000, and 3000 series) reached a total of 50 million units.
The 50 million is a sell-in number, which I suppose means that Sony sold 50 million PSP into the retail channel, but there are not 50 million PSPs in the hands on gamers yet.
The Sony PSP made its debut in December 2004 in Japan, March 2005 in North America, May 2005 in Asian countries and regions, and September 2005 in Europe/PAL territories. Read more

The contract is worth $12 million to the firm. QPC says that its RGB lasers have successfully met all performance milestones for red, green and blue colors.

This performance milestone means that QPC has completed the development phase of the contract. The company says that it has an exclusive contract with an Asian electronics maker for the lasers. The contract is a supply agreement that could be worth $230 million over the ten year term. Read more

3LCD says that its chips are key components driving the majority of projectors in classrooms and home theaters. 3LCD technology first came to market in 1989. 3LCD says that it has a 6.3-point unit share lead over its competitors in Q1 2008. Read more

In the first quarter of 2008, T-Mobile USA added 981,000 net new customers, up from 951,000 in the fourth quarter of 2007, and 980,000 in the first quarter of 2007.
During the quarter, T-Mobile USA’s acquisition of SunCom Wireless (SunCom) closed, adding 1.1 million customers and networks in the Southeastern United States, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Read more
