Nintendo Turns Times Square Military Island into Wii Sports Resort Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Nintendo is setting up an urban island getaway in the heart of New York City's times Square on Military Island to celebrate Wii Sports Resort. On July 23, the Manhattan landmark will be turned into an island getaway with a sandy beach, swimming pool, and tropical lounge.

Visitors will also get a change to play Wii Sports Resort before it launches on July 26. The island themes is based on the Wuhu Island location into the game. Nintendo points out that the lounge bar will only serve non-alcoholic drinks. Read more

MSI Unveils Military Grade Graphics Cards Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review MSI has announced a pair of special edition video cards called the N260GTC Lightning and the N260GTX Lightning Black Edition. The two cards have the same specifications; the only difference is that the black edition comes with a special panel for the front of the computer called the Air Force panel.

The Air Force panel is used to overclock the card by simply touching the sensors on the panel. MSI says that all of the components of the cards are top quality with solid caps and the world's first 10 phase PWM for performance and stability. Read more

iRobot continues to ship PackBots to US Military

iRobot continues to ship PackBots to US Military Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review iRobot announced another order from the US military. This time the robot company got a $7.8 million order for 90 iRobot PackBot 510 with FasTac Kit robots and spare parts.
This is the ninth order under the $286 million Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) xBot contract, bringing the current total contract value to approximately $80 million.

iRobot would have to sell a lot of their cleaning consumer robots to reach that order volume.
The PackBot 510 with FasTac Kit, employed in both Iraq and Afghanistan, was developed for reconnaissance missions and to identify roadside bombs, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and other unexploded ordnance. Read more

IronKey announced that it has a new flash drive in the IronKey family that meets military standards for durability and is appropriate for enterprise use as well. The new flash drive is called the IronKey: Enterprise Special Edition.

When I think of military robots, I think of sinister devices replete with gatling guns and rocket launchers. Imagine my disappointment when I find out that the army prefers a cuddly looking bear robot that looks like Johnny 5’s and Teddy Ruxpin’s love child.

While it may not look like a military robot, it is intended to serve a noble purpose, removing downed soldiers from harms way. Sending a medic into the line of fire could result in two downed soldiers. Read more
