EA Mobile Launches Madden NFL 10 for iPhone

Football and gaming fans that have been waiting for EA to launch Madden NFL 10 on the app store for iPhone gamers have to wait no more. EA Mobile has announced that Madden 10 is now available on the App Store to purchase.

Players can play through an entire season with their favorite teams and even go to the Super Bowl with commentary by John Madden himself. The game features players from all 32 licensed teams in the NFL. Read more

Class Action Suit Against EA over Madden NFL Moves Forward

A US District Judge has denied motion to dismiss brought by EA and allowed a class-action lawsuit to move forward against EA over its practices for football video games. The allegations core to the case claim that EA unlawfully and anticompetitivly monopolized the football game market.

The suit claims that EA established agreements with the NFL, NFL Players Union, Arena Football League, and the NCAA to drive competition out of the market for football video games. The agreement allegedly allowed EA to increase the price of its flagship Madden NFL title 70% from $29.99 to $49.99. Read more

NFL Retirees Suing EA for Madden Royalties

Spurred by John Madden’s retirement from the broadcast booth, the same group of retired NFL players that successfully sued the NFL Player’s Association for likeness usage in the Madden game franchise is now targeting EA, publisher of Madden football games, in a similar dispute.

GamePolitics points to a post on Dave Pear’s Blog by NFL retiree Bernie Parrish. In it, Parrish claims, “The retired NFL players who were used in Madden EA video games will be suing Madden and EA for using us in those games without compensating us.” He added that a lawsuit is the only recourse because, “No deals are going to be made because John Madden is moving his act to his home office where he will continue to screw over the retired players without having to face the fans around the country.”

Last fall, a jury awarded the group of 2,062 retired NFL players $28 million in damages from the NFLPA for selling the likeness rights of the retired players at below market value and intentionally weakening any competition from rival publishers – that rival being Take-Two Interactive and their All-Pro Football 2K8 game.

Open Air inflatable Screens at Target.com

I have talked about the Open Air Cinema screens before. The screens make watching movies outdoors fun and allow many users to watch the films at once. The inflatable screens are sort of like those bounce houses kids enjoy and include an air compressor to keep them inflated.

Open Air has announced that its line of screens are now available at Target.com. Three sizes are available including 10, 14, and 18-foot. All three sizes promise theatrical grade projection surfaces that are backed with black material to block sunlight from the rear. Read more

EA Madden NFL 10 Coming in August

EA announced today that the next installment in the popular and long running Madden NFL franchise is coming on August 14th. EA promises that the new title will usher in a new era with advancements that make it as realistic as what fans see on Sunday TV minus the grass stains.

Madden NFL 10 gives players more control over the play allowing them to push defenders towards the first down marker, fight for a fumble at the bottom of a pile, or avoid a rush by stepping into the pocket. Read more

NFL Offers Game Rewind Service in HD with no Commercials

Football fans will have a new way to checkout games that they miss or can’t get in their area thanks to the NFL. The NFL launched a new service online that provides video on demand of every NFL game each week in Full HD quality.

Perhaps the best news is that every game is commercial free and it's cheap. You can get a full season access for $19.99 or access to individual weeks for $4.99. A few questions are still unanswered about the service including how fast the games are added to the service. Read more

Aircell Says 2009 is the Year of Inflight Internet

According to Aircell 2009 is the year of inflight Internet. The company plans to have its Gogo Inflight internet service installed on 2,000 airplanes in 2009. The service is already in limited deployment with American and Virgin America with Delta expected to roll out the service in 2008 as well.

Aircell says that most major airline companies in the US are in advanced discussions to install Gogo on their aircraft. International airlines is also looking at Aircell to equip aircraft with Internet connectivity on flights between countries. Air Canada will launch Gogo and Aircell says it has partners in Mexico as well. Read more

NFL, 3ality, and RealD Team Up for Live 3D Football Broadcast

I have seen a few RealD 3D movies in my local movie theater and they are fantastic and much more enjoyable than normal 2D films. Sports fans know that watching NFL football games on a big screen in HD is much better than watching on a smaller SD set.

Open Air Cinema Announces 16-foot Inflatable Movie Screen

Open Air Cinema has announced its new and largest 16-foot inflatable outdoor movie screen. The screen measures 16' x 9' and offers a 220" diagonal projection surface. The projection surface is a matte white, wrinkle resistant material.

The screen is backed with black material to improve contrast ratio and prevent light from entering from behind. The screen inflates like a bounce house and includes a blower to keep it inflated. When deflated the screen weighs 20 pounds and stores in a bag for transport. The screen retails for $999 and is available as part of the CineBox Home backyard theater system. Read more

Virgin America launches Gogo Inflight Internet

Virgin American Airlines has announced that its Gogo inflight Internet service has launched. The service is provided by Aircell and is available for passengers on select flights. The launch of the Gogo service on select flights makes the start of Virgin's fleet wide rollout for Gogo service.

On November 22, the service was launched on the first week the service was complementary to passengers. The normal price for the service will be $12.95 for flights over three hours and $9.95 for flights under three hours. Read more

Microsoft launches Xbox Holiday Value Finder and Gift Influencer

Microsoft today announced survey findings from the Xbox 360 Holiday Entertainment Survey along with the launch of some weird tools.
Microsoft leverages the not surprising survey results to argue that the Xbox 360 is the best value to stay entertained during the Holidays.
Of course the survey said that people stay home this Christmas to conserve cash. Additionally 86% of young adults hope to receive at least one video game this year according to the survey. Read more

Blogs and Product Reviews Significantly Influence Mobile Buyers says Report

A new report from ad-ology shows that 60.5% of consumers who recently purchased a mobile phone said that online product reviews and user comments weighed significantly in their buying decisions. The reports show that 30% of people felt that blogs had the same level of influence on buying decisions.

Key findings showed that buyers likely to rate online blogs and reviews highly tended to be 18 to 34 year olds with higher than average incomes. 26.3% of buyers said they prefer to buy online rather than in a store. The price of the phone isn't as important to most buyers as the phone quality and the quality of the mobile network. Read more

EA Announces Maddenpalooza for Madden NFL 09 Launch

EA announced today that it is planning a big event it is calling Maddenpalooza. The event will be a sports, music, and gaming fan festival that will be hosted at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on August 11th.

The celebration is helping to promote the 20th anniversary of the Madden franchise. The festival includes performances by bands that have been featured in the game before including Good Charlotte. Retired NFL players will be on hand for autographs and kiosks to play the game. Read more

EA Sports Integrates Fantasy Football into Madden NFL 09

Electronic Arts has announced that EA Sports Fantasy Football will be launching a new website at fantasy.easports.com. The site will offer fantasy football applications specifically for the Xbox 360 and PS3 game consoles later this summer.

The web-based fantasy football service is free but PS3 and Xbox owners will need to pay for the download. For the first time fantasy football players can play their teams in Madden NFL 2009. Users will also be able to download the EA Sports Football Live draft Tracker to provide a fantasy draft with the fanfare and presentation of authentic pro football drafts on the PS3 or Xbox. World in Conflict Headed to PS3 and Xbox 360

Sierra Entertainment announced today that World in Conflict would be heading to the PS3 and Xbox 360 game consoles this fall. World in Conflict won the E3 2007 Game Critics “Best Strategy Game” award.

World in conflict was created by Massive Entertainment, which is owned by Sierra. The game is being redesigned for consoles and will include a host of new content in single and multiple player campaigns. The new content for the console version of the game will be available for the PC as an add-on. Read more

Sierra entertainment announced today that World in conflict is now available in America. The game was created by Massive Entertainment and will be available in standard and collectors editions. The standard edition will sell for $49.99 and the collector’s edition will sell for $59.99.
